Brian Smith (linebacker, born 1989)

Brian Smith (born January 8, 1989) is an American football linebacker who is currently a free agent. He played college football at the University of Notre Dame and attended St. Thomas Aquinas High School in Overland Park, Kansas. He has been a member of the Cleveland Browns, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Buffalo Bills.

Early years

Smith played high school football for the St. Thomas Aquinas High School Saints. He recorded 126 tackles and nine sacks during senior season, earning all-metro honors from the Kansas City Star.

College career

Smith played from 2007 to 2010 for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish.

Professional career

Cleveland Browns

Smith was signed by the Cleveland Browns on July 28, 2011. He was released by the Browns on September 3, 2011. He was signed to the Browns' practice squad on November 29, 2011. He was released by the Browns on May 8, 2012.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Smith signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on August 2, 2012. He was released by the Buccaneers on August 27, 2012.

Brian Smith (footballer, born 1966)

Brian Smith (born 27 October 1966) is a former footballer who played as a defender. Born in Sheffield, England, he spent all but a short loan spell with his home town club Sheffield United.

Career

Smith initially signed with Sheffield United as a YTS trainee in 1983 before turning professional in 1984. Smith made semi-regular appearances for United from that point on, initially deployed as a right-back but later as a midfielder and then more regularly as a left-back. Following a brief loan spell with Scunthorpe United in 1987, Smith had established himself in United's first team by the 1988–89 season as they were promoted to Division Two, but he broke his leg just prior to the end of the season during a home game against Preston North End. Having been hit by a serious injury, his leg broken in three places, Smith struggled to regain fitness and succumbed to a further stress fracture when he recommenced training and then a number of infections and complications, and he was eventually forced to retire without ever playing for the United first team again.

Brian Smith (photographer)

Brian Smith (born July 16, 1959) is an American portrait photographer and photojournalist. He may be known best for portraits of actors, business leaders, politicians, and athletes that are at once stylish and telling.

Early life

Born in Ames, Iowa, Smith got his start in photography in high school (class of 1981) as a stringer for the Ames Tribune. He received his bachelor's degree in journalism from the University of Missouri. As a 20-year-old student there, his first magazine photograph was published in Life magazine showing the New York Yankees manager Billy Martin crying at the funeral of his player Thurman Munson.

Career

Brian Smith's portraits of celebrities, athletes and business executives have appeared on the covers of magazines, including his photograph of Pope John Paul II, which was featured on the cover of the Newsweek Commemorative issue.
