Brian Kelley (CIA officer)

Brian Kelley (January 8, 1943 – September 19, 2011) was an American Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) agent. Kelley received the Distinguished Career Intelligence Medal for his service.

Early life

Kelley was born in Waterbury, Connecticut. He earned degrees in political science from Saint Michael's College and East Asian studies from Florida State University.

Career

After university he joined the United States Air Force and worked in its Office of Special Investigations. After leaving the Air Force he joined the CIA.

In the late 1990s, Kelley was falsely accused of spying against the United States for the KGB and its successor the SVR. For about a year Kelley was suspended with pay while he was under investigation. Due to information from a Russian informant, investigation on the same spy case was re-focused on FBI agent Robert Hanssen who was later apprehended and convicted of spying against the United States. Kelley was later exonerated.

After full reinstatement, Kelley educated personnel in various government agencies on professional counterintelligence. He retired from the CIA in 2007 and worked for the private contractor Abraxas Corporation and continued to teach counterintelligence. He also taught counterintelligence at The Institute of World Politics.

Brian Edward Kelley (born August 26, 1985) is an American musician, best known as a member of the Nashville-based country music duo Florida Georgia Line. Kelley is from Ormond Beach, Florida and enjoyed playing sports and music growing up. He moved to Nashville to go to school and play baseball at Belmont University, where he met Tyler Hubbard, the other member of Florida Georgia Line.

Early life

Kelley was born on August 26, 1985 in Ormond Beach, Florida and is the son of Ed and Mary Margaret Kelley. Growing up, Kelley enjoyed sports and writing and spent most of his time playing baseball or at the beach. As he got older he started to spend more time writing music and leading worship at his church. When he was in his teens, his sister began to introduce him to country artists by playing him tapes on the way to the beach in exchange for Kelley washing her car. By the time Kelley was ready to graduate high school in 2004, he was splitting his time between baseball (being scouted by the pros) and writing music. Kelley found out late that he would be drafted by the Florida Marlins and would more than likely pursue pro baseball as a career. However, when he was doing more bench sitting than playing, so he filled the void with writing. He later decided to move to Belmont University.

Biography

Kelley graduated with honors from Connecticut's Darien High School, and in 1990 he entered Harvard University as a physics major. He became a television writer four years later.

Brian Kelley (American football)

Brian Lee Kelley (born September 1, 1951 in Dallas, Texas) is a former American football linebacker in the National Football League who played his entire career for the New York Giants (1973–1983) after being drafted in the fourteenth round of the 1973 NFL Draft.

Kelley grew up in Fullerton, California, where he was an outstanding athlete at Sunny Hills High School. He attended California Lutheran University, an National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) member and played college football. Cal Lutheran won the NAIA National Championship in Kelley's junior year, but in his senior year, they lost, even though Kelley was named MVP of the championship game. He was also honored as a little All-American. On May 11, 2010, Kelley was elected into the College Football Hall of Fame.

As a member of the Giants, Kelley was one of the Crunch Bunch, a team of fierce linebackers composed of Kelley, Brad Van Pelt, Lawrence Taylor, and Harry Carson. The group is widely considered one of the best linebacking combos in NFL history.
