Perfect Circle is a 2004 novel by Sean Stewart. It was nominated for Nebula Award for Best Novel in 2004 and the World Fantasy Award for Best Novel in 2005. It is a contemporary realistic fantasy about an exorcist in Texas.

Plot introduction

Texan William Kennedy can see and talk to ghosts - an ability which complicates his life immensely and threatens his relationships with family and friends. When his cousin calls him in to lay the ghost in the garage, Will finds he has a murderer to deal with.

Perfect Circle (song)

"Perfect Circle" is an R.E.M. song and is the 6th track from their 1983 debut album Murmur. It is one of the few R.E.M. songs for which the band has attributed the writing primarily to one member of the band rather than sharing the credit.

Music

Like many songs from Murmur, "Perfect Circle" has a sound typified by unusual instruments and recording techniques. The song opens with Honky tonk piano, a style more associated with ragtime and early country music than the college rock scene of which R.E.M. was a member. Two pianos were recorded, and the slightly out-of-sync sound and reverb achieve a detached otherworldly effect. The song also features Peter Buck's 12 string guitar.

After R.E.M.'s drummer Bill Berry left the band in 1997 for personal reasons, the band began reintroducing "Perfect Circle" into their live performances and radio appearances to promote their then forthcoming album Up. During this time period, members of the band stated that the song was primarily written by Berry and dedicated their performance of it to him. This is one of the few times that the band has given one member primary credit for a song; most of their songs are attributed to all four members.

A Perfect Circle

A Perfect Circle is an American rock supergroup formed in 1999 by guitarist Billy Howerdel and Tool vocalist Maynard James Keenan. The original incarnation of the band also included Paz Lenchantin on bass, Troy Van Leeuwen on guitar, and Tim Alexander on drums, with Josh Freese as the primary drummer after the band's initial round of touring prior to their first album. The latest lineup features Puscifer and Ashes Divide bassist Matt McJunkins; former The Smashing Pumpkins guitarist James Iha; and Puscifer and Ashes Divide touring drummer, Jeff Friedl. Despite having a varied cast since inception, the stylistic content of the songs has remained consistent with Howerdel as composer, and Keenan penning the lyrics and melodies.

A Perfect Circle has released three albums: Mer de Noms (2000), Thirteenth Step (2003), and Emotive (2004). A CD-DVD set, Amotion, was released alongside Emotive released and contains thirteen music videos in addition to a number of song remixes created by Danny Lohner, Robert Del Naja, and other artists.

History

Colonial Period

From 1618 the construction of a wall to defend the city of Lima from the possible pirate or Indian attacks had been requested from the population of Lima. More than half century later it was the Flemish presbyter Jean Raymond Coninck born in Mechelen, known astrologist of the Kingdom, that executed the project. He arrived at Peru in 1655 and due to his unique architectonic knowledge for his time because he had been disciple of the Jesuit scientists Gregorio of San Vicente and Andrés Jacquet.

The viceroy Melchor of Navarra y Rocaful, Duke of the Palata, insisted on the construction. The work began in 1685 and was inaugurated in 1687. The wall was more than 5 meters wide and 4,5 of height, and extended approximately 11,700 meters. It had 34 defensive bastions and 5 accesses to the city.
