Bretons

The Bretons are an ethnic group located in the region of Brittany in France. They trace much of their heritage to groups of Brittonic speakers who emigrated from southwestern Great Britain including Cornwall to avoid invading Germanic tribes. They also descend from the Gauls and in some parts from Vikings. They migrated in waves from the 3rd to 9th century (most heavily from 450 to 600) into the Armorican peninsula, which was subsequently named Brittany after them.

The main traditional language of Brittany is Breton (Brezhoneg), spoken in Lower Brittany (i.e. the western part of the peninsula). Today, Breton is spoken by approximately 365,000 people, of whom about 240,000 speak it fluently. Another minority language of Brittany is Gallo; Gallo is spoken only in Upper Brittany, where Breton has never been strong. As one of the Brythonic languages, Breton is related closely to Cornish and more distantly to Welsh, while the Gallo language is a Romance language of the langue d'oïl group. Currently, most Bretons' native language is standard French.

Races of The Elder Scrolls

The Elder Scrolls series of role-playing video games are populated with a number of fantasy races, ten of which are playable. Generally, these races fall into one of three distinct archetypes, namely, humans, elvenkind, and beastfolk. Within the lore of the Elder Scrolls universe, men and mer (elves) are descended from an ancestral race known as the "Ehlnofey", and are capable of interbreeding.

Playable races

There are ten different races from which the player can choose: Altmer (High Elf), Bosmer (Wood Elf), Dunmer (Dark Elf), Orsimer (Orc), Breton, Argonian, Khajiit, Nord, Imperial, and Redguard. Each race excels in certain areas of skill over others and starts off at a higher level in these areas than other races which may have only a basic skill level, such as five or fifteen. For example, Wood Elves start with an elevated Archery level, whereas Argonians start with an elevated Lockpicking level.
