Bremerhaven (German pronunciation: [bʁeːmɐˈhaːfən], literally "Bremen's harbour", Low German: Bremerhoben) is a city at the seaport of the Free Hanseatic City of Bremen, a state of the Federal Republic of Germany. It forms an enclave in the state of Lower Saxony and is located at the mouth of the River Weser on its eastern bank, opposite the town of Nordenham. Though a relatively new city, it has a long history as a trade port and today is one of the most important German ports, playing a crucial role in Germany's trade.
The town was founded in 1827, but settlements, such as Lehe, were in the vicinity as early as the 12th century, and Geestendorf, which was "mentioned in documents of the ninth century". These tiny villages were built on small islands in the swampy estuary. In 1381, the city of Bremen established de facto rule over the lower Weser stream, including Lehe, later therefore called Bremerlehe. Early in 1653, Swedish Bremen-Verden's troops captured Bremerlehe by force.
This is a list of craters on Mars. There are hundreds of thousands of impact craters on Mars, but only some of them have names. This list here only contains named Martian craters starting with the letter A – G (see also lists for H – N and O – Z).
Large Martian craters (greater than 60 km in diameter) are named after famous scientists and science fiction authors; smaller ones (less than 60 km in diameter) get their names from towns on Earth. Craters cannot be named for living people, and small crater names are not intended to be commemorative - that is, a small crater isn't actually named after a specific town on Earth, but rather its name comes at random from a pool of terrestrial place names, with some exceptions made for craters near landing sites. Latitude and longitude are given as planetographic coordinates with west longitude.
OSC Bremerhaven is a German sports club based in Bremerhaven, in the federal state of Bremen.
The club was founded in 1972 as Olympischer Sport-Club Bremerhaven in a merger of various local football clubs including ATS Bremerhaven, which has roots going back to 1859, Polizei Sportverein, TuS Bremerhaven 93, and the Judo-Klub. They are the largest sports club in the city, claiming some 4500 members, but football is not their primary focus. Their minor league side currently competes at the tier V level after a decade spent in tiers II and III, from the mid-70's through to the mid-80's.
OSC can make a strong claim to being the successor to TuS Bremerhaven 93, which was officially disbanded in 1974. While many members of TuS 93 joined OSC, others continued to field a separate football team until 1977. In 1991, the football players left OSC en masse to form FC Bremerhaven, leaving OSC with just a rump side. The TuS 93 was a quite successful side in northern German football, playing in the Oberliga Nord (I) from 1948 to 1963 and then in the Regionalliga Nord (II) until 1974.
