Big Pig

Big Pig were an Australian funk, rock and pop band that existed from 1985 to 1991. An early line-up was Sherine on lead vocals and percussion (ex-Editions, Bang); Tony Antonaides on vocals and harmonica; Neil Baker on drums; Nick Disbray on vocals and percussion; Tim Rosewarne on vocals and keyboards (ex-Bang); Adrian Scaglione on drums; and Oleh Witer on vocals and percussion (ex-Bang). They issued two albums, Bonk (March 1988) and You Lucky People (15 November 1990), on the White Records Label imprint of Mushroom Records.

Bonk reached No. 8 on the ARIA Albums Chart in June 1988 and No. 4 on the Kent Music Report. In New Zealand it peaked at No. 2. On the Kent Music Report they had three top 50 singles with "Hungry Town" (May 1986) which peaked at No. 18, "Breakaway" (February 1988) at No. 8, and "Big Hotel" (July) at No. 40. In New Zealand "Breakaway" was a number-one hit while "Hungry Town" and "Big Hotel" both reached the top 30. At the ARIA Music Awards of 1987 Big Pig were nominated for Best New Talent and Best Video for "Hungry Town" by Julie Stone Productions, and they won Best Cover Artist for their debut self-titled extended play (May 1986) by Witer.

Break Away (The Beach Boys song)

"Break Away" is a song written by Brian and Murry Wilson for American rock band the Beach Boys, released as a single in 1969. Murry was credited as lyricist under the pseudonym "Reggie Dunbar". The single was relatively unsuccessful compared to the group's releases, and charted at #63 in the US Billboard 100 (top 40 in the Cash Box and Record World charts). "Break Away" sold better abroad, reaching #6 on the United Kingdom charts, #10 in Ireland, #17 in the Netherlands, #20 in New Zealand, and #29 in Germany.

It was the last release (aside from the single "Cool, Cool Water") on which Brian was named as producer until "Child of Winter (Christmas Song)" in 1974.

Music

According to Brian Wilson, his father Murry came up with the idea from watching The Joey Bishop Show on television while it proclaimed, "We're gonna break for a minute and we'll be right back!". Brian, at his piano, then composed the song with Murry as they "plunked and plunked and plunked" and "finally got a song going." When asked why Murry used a pseudonym, Brian responded: "I don't know. He was nutty. He was crazy, that was his fictitious name." At another time, Brian has said that The Monkees inspired him to write this song.

Break Away (from That Boy)

"Break Away (from That Boy)" is a song written by Louis "Dean" Mathis and Marcus F. Mathis and performed by The Newbeats. It reached #7 in Australia, #15 in Canada, and #40 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1965. The song was also released in the United Kingdom as a single, but it did not chart. The song was featured on their 1965 album, Big Beat Sounds by The Newbeats.

The song was produced by Wesley Rose. The single's B-side, "Hey-O-Daddy-O", reached #118 on the US Billboard chart.

The song was re-released in 1970 as the B-side to the group's single, "Laura (What's He Got That I Ain't Got)".
