Bradley Beach, New Jersey

Bradley Beach is a borough in Monmouth County, New Jersey, United States. As of the 2010 United States Census, the borough's population was 4,298, reflecting a decline of 495 (-10.3%) from the 4,793 counted in the 2000 Census, which had in turn increased by 318 (+7.1%) from the 4,475 counted in the 1990 Census. The summer population can reach 30,000.

History

Bradley Beach was named for James A. Bradley, the developer responsible for the creation of the Bradley Beach and Asbury Park. In 1871, William B. Bradner, with James A. Bradley as an investor, acquired 54 acres (22 ha) of land north of Avon-by-the-Sea, and south of Ocean Grove. At the time the area where they had purchased their land was known informally as Ocean Park and was part of Ocean Township and later became part of Neptune Township.

Citizens appealed to the New Jersey Legislature for a referendum to separate Bradley Beach from Neptune Township, and on March 13, 1893, Bradley Beach was incorporated, based on the results of a referendum held on March 6, 1893. The borough's incorporation was confirmed on March 13, 1925.

Bradley Beach is a railway station in Bradley Beach, Monmouth County, New Jersey, United States. It is served by trains on New Jersey Transit's North Jersey Coast Line.

The station was originally built in 1912 by Joseph Osgood for the Central Railroad of New Jersey, and has been on the state and federal registers of historic places since 1984, listed as part of the Operating Passenger Railroad Stations Thematic Resource.

Bradley is one of the 20 electoral wards that form the Parliamentary constituency of Pendle, Lancashire, England. The ward elects three councillors to represent the Bradley area, the north-west part of Nelson, on Pendle Borough Council. As of the May 2011 Council election, Bradley had an electorate of 4,581.

Bradley (automobile)

The Bradley was an automobile manufactured in Cicero, Illinois, USA, by the Bradley Motor Car Company. Production commenced in 1920 with the Model H tourer, which was powered by a 4 cylinder Lycoming engine, had a 116-inch wheelbase, and a selling price of $1295.

In 1921 the Model H continued in production, but was joined by the 6 cylinder powered Model F, also available as a tourer for $1500.

In November 1920, the company went into involuntary receivership, with liabilities of approximately $100,000. Although the assets held by the company were greater, including finished and party-assembled vehicles, along with a large inventory, the company was bankrupt by the end of 1921. Total production of the Bradley automobile was 263 cars.
