Boskovice (Czech pronunciation: [ˈboskovɪtsɛ]; German: Boskowitz) is a town in the Czech Republic.
The town is situated in the Drahanská Highlands, about 30–40 km to the north of Brno, the most important city of Moravia.
Boskovice was probably founded in the 11th century and received its town charter in the 14th century. It used to have one of the largest Jewish communities in Moravia.
Until 1918, BOSKOWITZ - BOSKOVICE (BOSKOWIZ in 1850) was part of the Austrian monarchy (Austria side after the compromise of 1867), head of the district with the same name, one of the 34 Bezirkshauptmannschaften in Moravia.
