Bose (film)

Bose is a 2004 Indian Tamil action film written and directed by Senthil Kumar. It stars Srikanth and Sneha in lead and Kalabhavan Mani, Nagesh, 'Thalaivaasal' Vijay and Manicka Vinayagam in supporting roles. It did reasonable business at the box-office. Upon release, the film was dubbed into Telugu as Rakshana and released in 2005, the film was also dubbed in Hindi as Commando - The Force. The film was also remade in Kannada as Yodha and released in 2009. Bose follows the path of a soldier after he is fired after an incident where he injures a politician attempting to rape a girl. The politician hires thugs to take him down while the soldier attempts to take down the greedy politician.

Plot

Bose, the eponymous hero (Srikanth) is a commando in the army. When a Union Minister (Kalbhavan Mani) is kidnapped by terrorists, Bose goes on a daring rescue operation and manages to pull it off. And that is enough for the Minister to have him as his personal security guard.

Up close with the Minister, Bose gets to know his other (real) side. When the Minister tries to misbehave with a college girl (Sneha) in Delhi, Bose rises up in anger. In trying to save her, he ends up shooting the Minister. Though he escapes with some injuries, the Minister gets Bose sacked from the Army.

Bose Corporation

Bose Corporation /ˈboʊz/ is an American privately held corporation, based in Framingham, Massachusetts, that specializes in audio equipment. Founded in 1964 by Dr. Amar G. Bose, the company sells its products throughout the world, and employs more than 10,500 people.

Bose is best known for its home audio systems and speakers, noise cancelling headphones, professional audio systems and automobile sound systems. The company has also conducted research into suspension technologies for cars and heavy-duty trucks and into the subject of cold fusion.

Bose has a reputation for being particularly protective of its patents, trademarks, and brand.

History

Formation of Bose Corporation

The company was founded in 1964 by Amar G. Bose. Eight years earlier, Bose, then a graduate student at MIT, had purchased a stereo system and was disappointed with its performance. This led him to research the importance of reverberant (indirect) sound on perceived audio quality.

Early years

Bose began extensive research aimed at clarifying factors that he saw as fundamental weaknesses plaguing high-end audio systems. The principal weaknesses, in his view, were that overall, the electronics and speaker failed to account for the spatial properties of the radiated sound in typical listening spaces (homes and apartments) and the implications of spatiality for psychoacoustics, i.e. the listener's head as a sonic diffraction object as part of the system. Eight years later, he started the company, charging it with a mission to achieve "Better Sound Through Research", now the company slogan.

Baise

Baise (Chinese: 百色; local pronunciation: paːk˧˥ ɬɐk˥) is the westernmost prefecture-level city of Guangxi, China bordering Vietnam as well as the provinces of Guizhou and Yunnan.

Geography and climate

Baise is located in western-northwestern Guangxi bordering Qianxinan Buyei and Miao Autonomous Prefecture (Guizhou) to the north, Qujing and Wenshan Zhuang and Miao Autonomous Prefecture of Yunnan to the west, the Vietnamese provinces of Hà Giang and Cao Bằng to the south and southwest, and the Guangxi cities of Hechi to the northeast/east, Nanning to the east, and Chongzuo to the southeast. It is centrally located between three provincial capitals: Nanning, Kunming, and Guiyang. Its area is 36,252 km² (13,997 sq mi) and is more than 55% forested.

Baise has a monsoon-influenced, humid subtropical climate (Köppen Cwa), with short, mild, and dry winters, and long, very hot and humid summers. The monthly 24-hour average temperature ranges from 13.4 °C (56.1 °F) in January to 28.4 °C (83.1 °F) in July, for an annual mean of 21.98 °C (71.6 °F). Rainfall is low compared to more easterly locations in Guangxi, averaging around 1,070 mm (42 in) per annum, a majority of which occurs from June to August. There are 1,706 hours of bright sunshine annually. Significant temperature variation exists in the prefecture; the western parts, with an average elevation surpassing 500 m (1,640 ft), lie along the southeastern fringes of the Yunnan–Guizhou Plateau, and hold a climate similar to that of central Yunnan, with much more moderate summer temperatures. With monthly percent possible sunshine ranging from 25% in January and February to 49% in August, the city receives 1,706 hours of bright sunshine annually.

Film is a 1965 film written by Samuel Beckett, his only screenplay. It was commissioned by Barney Rosset of Grove Press. Writing began on 5 April 1963 with a first draft completed within four days. A second draft was produced by 22 May and a forty-leaf shooting script followed thereafter. It was filmed in New York in July 1964.

Beckett’s original choice for the lead – referred to only as “O” – was Charlie Chaplin, but his script never reached him. Both Beckett and the director Alan Schneider were interested in Zero Mostel and Jack MacGowran. However, the former was unavailable and the latter, who accepted at first, became unavailable due to his role in a "Hollywood epic." Beckett then suggested Buster Keaton. Schneider promptly flew to Los Angeles and persuaded Keaton to accept the role along with "a handsome fee for less than three weeks' work."James Karen, who was to have a small part in the film, also encouraged Schneider to contact Keaton.

The filmed version differs from Beckett's original script but with his approval since he was on set all the time, this being his only visit to the United States. The script printed in Collected Shorter Plays of Samuel Beckett (Faber and Faber, 1984) states:

Lubrication theory

In fluid dynamics, lubrication theory describes the flow of fluids (liquids or gases) in a geometry in which one dimension is significantly smaller than the others. An example is the flow above air hockey tables, where the thickness of the air layer beneath the puck is much smaller than the dimensions of the puck itself.

Internal flows are those where the fluid is fully bounded. Internal flow lubrication theory has many industrial applications because of its role in the design of fluid bearings. Here a key goal of lubrication theory is to determine the pressure distribution in the fluid volume, and hence the forces on the bearing components. The working fluid in this case is often termed a lubricant.

Free film lubrication theory is concerned with the case in which one of the surfaces containing the fluid is a free surface. In that case the position of the free surface is itself unknown, and one goal of lubrication theory is then to determine this. Surface tension may then be significant, or even dominant. Issues of wetting and dewetting then arise. For very thin films (thickness less than one micrometre), additional intermolecular forces, such as Van der Waals forces or disjoining forces, may become significant.
