Boreas (journal)

Boreas is a peer-reviewed academic journal that has been published on behalf of the Collegium Boreas since 1972. The journal covers all branches of quaternary research, including biological and non-biological aspects of the quaternary environment in both glaciated and non-glaciated areas. Formerly published by Taylor & Francis, Boreas has been published by Wiley-Blackwell since 1998. According to the Journal Citation Reports, the journal has a 2012 impact factor of 2.457.

The Journal is a daily newspaper produced in Newcastle upon Tyne. Published by ncjMedia, (a division of Trinity Mirror), The Journal is produced every weekday and Saturday morning and is complemented by its sister publications the Evening Chronicle and the Sunday Sun.

Journal is a Canadian short film television series which aired on CBC Television in 1977.

Premise

Independent short films were featured in this series. For example, Spence Bay was created in their northern community by a group of secondary school students and their teacher. Other films included Peggy Peacock and Jock Mlynek's North Hatley Antique Sale and Quebec Village; Mark Irwin's The Duel - Fencing, For The Love Of A Horse, Lacrosse, Sailaway, and Step By Step; and Tony Hall's Serpent River Paddlers.

This series was unrelated to CBC's news and current affairs series The Journal.

Scheduling

This 15-minute series was broadcast Sundays at 12:00 p.m. (Eastern) from 15 May to 25 September 1977.

November 2013 North American storm complex

Named Winter storm Boreas by the Weather channel, the November 2013 North American storm complex was a large deadly 2013 winter storm that was responsible for at least 14 deaths in 5 states.

Weather Channel meteorologist Jonathan Erdman described the storm as "about as expansive a winter storm as it get," On November 24, 2013, 300 flights were cancelled at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport. Flagstaff, Arizona recorded 11 inches of snow, and near the Four Corners as much as 4 feet fell. As much as a foot of snow fell in Colorado and Utah, and 13 people had died as of November 25. The serious winter storm that was expected did not materialize. As of November 27, 2013, 475 flights had been cancelled, with 3,600 delays, many in the New York City and Philadelphia areas. Snow turned to rain in Pittsburgh despite an ominous forecast, but 9 inches fell in Mercer County, Pennsylvania and 4.5 inches in Buffalo., Atlanta had less than an inch of snow, but it was the third November snow since 1930.Morehead City, North Carolina had serious damage, and damage was also reported in Atlantic Beach, North Carolina, from an EF2 tornado.

Boreas is a restaurant located in Heeze in the Netherlands. It is a fine dining restaurant that is awarded one Michelin stars from the period 2002–2009 and two michelinstars from 2010 up until now.GaultMillau awarded them 19.0 points (out of 20) in 2011.

Boreas is run by head chef Nico Boreas and his wife and maître Sonja Boreas.

The restaurant is member of Les Patrons Cuisiniers.
