Borders (UK)

Borders (UK) Ltd., aka Borders & Books etc., was established as a Borders Group subsidiary in 1998 and in 2007 became independent of the US company. At its peak after separation from the US parent, it traded from its 41 Borders and 28 BOOKS etc. shops, with over one million square feet of retail space taking around 8% of the retail bookselling market. In 2008 and 2009 the store numbers were reduced before the collapse of the chain. They also operated one single branch in Ireland, but closed this early in 2009. On 26 November 2009 it was announced that Borders (UK) had gone into administration. All stores closed on 24 December 2009.

A typical Borders shop in the UK contained both a Paperchase stationery and Starbucks cafeconcession. In addition, some branches also contained a RED5 gadget concession and GAME video games concession.

The logo contained both the Books etc. logo and the Borders logo to reflect the fact that Borders UK operated two different brands.

History

In September 2007, Borders (UK) Ltd. was acquired by Luke Johnson's London-based private equity investor Risk Capital Partners in a deal purportedly worth £20 million. Bookshop Acquisitions Ltd. - a subsidiary of Risk Capital Partners - was specifically set up for the purchase and the deal included the right to use the Borders and Books etc. brand names consistent with the brand. Under the deal, Borders would receive an equity interest of about 17% in Bookshop Acquisitions.

Borders (Asia Pacific)

Borders was a bookseller in the Pacific area of Asia and Australasia. It consisted of stores located across Australia, New Zealand and Singapore.

History

Borders started in 1997 with the opening of its first store in Singapore, it then later expanded to open Borders stores in Australia and New Zealand. Like its U.S. parent, it sold books, CDs, DVDs and stationery. All of the stores also had Gloria Jean's coffee shop concessions in them. The second outlet in Singapore was opened at Parkway Parade in 2007.

To pay off debt, Borders Group sold all of its Australian, New Zealand and Singaporean stores to Pacific Equity Partners (owner of competitor Angus & Robertson) in 2008. A new company called REDgroup Retail was formed. After this transaction, the Borders stores in the USA, the UK (which had also been sold off to another company but closed down in 2009 due to entering administration) and the Asia/Pacific region were owned by three wholly independent entities.

In late July 2012, Pearson Australia Group had decided to re-brand the former Borders Web site as Bookworld. Chief Executive James Webber had told The Australian "The Borders brand had lost its former sheen. We just believe the Borders brand has had its day. There are no stores left and globally it's been in demise so we believe there's an opportunity to revitalise (the franchise) and move it forward."

Park Jung-suk (StarCraft player)

Park Jung-suk, also known as Reach or [Oops]Reach (born 27 December 1983) is a professional South Korean StarCraft player.

Park, who also goes by the usernames Six_Devil_nO.1, ChoGoSy or TechniCal, is recognized as one of the best Protoss players in the world, an accomplishment for which he has been nicknamed "Hero Toss". He is skillful at macromanagement and does successful psionic storms and dragoon dancing, but plays relatively inconsistently against Zerg. He won the 2002 Sky Ongamenet StarLeague, beating SlayerS `BoxeR` with a 3-1 score. He uses a Logitech optical mini (a gift from his fanclub) and Samsung DT-35 Black keyboard.

Park was the first player to achieve 100 Proleague victories, an accomplishment commemorated when he and Lee Jaedong (the second player to reach that benchmark) formed prints of their mouse-controlling hands in clay in a September 2009 ceremony.

Park is now a coach for League of Legends and Tekken team NaJin e-mFire in Korea.

Reach (Eyes Set to Kill song)

"Reach" is a song from an American metalcore band Eyes Set to Kill. It was released February 5, 2008 and was the lead single of the band from their debut album Reach. Alexia Rodriguez is now the vocals after Lindsey Vogt left. An acoustic version of the song will be included on Lexia's debut Underground Sounds.

Music video

The music video is shot at an old room of an eerie Victorian home. The video is about a girl (Alexia Rodriguez) who is packing her clothes. There are shots of the band playing the song. She is wondering inside the old house with many light bulbs. She picks her things - a guitar, a bag, and a microphone. In the later part, she's in bed singing this part, "I try to reach you but I fall". When the song is about to finish, she leaves the house with her things and walks down in a car junkyard.
