Origin and recording [link]

The song was written after the release of May's second studio album, Love Tattoo, which she was promoting on tour at the time of writing. The song was recorded during the Mayhem sessions at Embassy Studios, a sixteen track analogue recording studio in a converted cow shed, near Basingstoke, United Kingdom. A remastered version of the song was released as a bonus track on the iTunes version of Mayhem.[1] Alternate mixes by Andy Green and producer Andy Wright were released as part of a desktop widget available on Imelda May's official website.

Speaking of the writing and production of both the song and the album, May said: "I'm over the moon with how Mayhem has turned out – I hope people enjoy it. I feel I’ve made the album I wanted that reflects the spectrum of all my influences from music past but is a record firmly in the here & now."[2]

Release and promotion [link]

"Mayhem" was released on September 13, 2010 after the release of Mayhem in Ireland ten days earlier and after the album was delayed for release in the United Kingdom.

The song was performed on The Late Late Show[3] on September 10 and Later... with Jools Holland[4] on October 12, respectively.

"Mayhem" was May's first release to chart in Ireland. Entering the charts on September 9, it peaked in its second week at No. 24 in the Irish Singles Chart.[5][6]

Nightmare of You

Nightmare of You is an American indie-rock band from New York City. Formed in 2004, the band currently consists of original founder vocalist Brandon Reilly, guitarist Joseph McCaffrey, and drummer Michael Fleischmann.

They have toured the US, and the UK both as a headline act and in support of other artists including AFI, Fall Out Boy, She Wants Revenge, Brand New, The (International) Noise Conspiracy, and Circa Survive. They have previously been nominated for mtvU Woodie awards for Best Tour and Most Downloaded. In April 2006, they were the winners of Yahoo! Music's "Who's Next?" competition. Past winners include My Chemical Romance, Coheed and Cambria, and Hinder.

History

Brandon Reilly was originally a member of the now defunct band The Rookie Lot, alongside current members of Brand New; Jesse Lacey, Garrett Tierney and Brian Lane. After the band parted ways, he became the guitarist of The Movielife and then eventually formed Nightmare of You.

The band originally self-released their debut album on their own label, The Bevonshire Label. They licensed it to East West Records in the US and Full Time Hobby in the UK. Three singles, with accompanying music videos, were released from the self-titled album. The singles included "My Name Is Trouble", "The Days Go by Oh So Slow" and "I Want to Be Buried in Your Backyard". All three videos were featured on the Fuse TV shows Steven's Untitled Rock Show and Oven Fresh. Another song from the album, "Dear Scene, I Wish I Were Deaf", was also featured in the EA Sports video game, FIFA 07.

Bang (band)

Bang was a Greek band that represented Greece in the ESC 1987 and had minor success in Europe and Japan.

Biography

Bang was formed in 1987 by Thanos Kalliris and Vasilis Dertilis. Thanos was the frontman and Vassilis was doing backing vocals and played keyboards. In 1987 they competed in the Greek selection for the Eurovision Song Contest 1987. Their song, Stop, a pop/funky dancing anthem was victorious and the duo, along with Thanos' sister Katerina Kalliri, Mariana Efstratiou (who competed for Greece in Eurovision 1989) and Laura Burke doing the backing vocals, travelled to Brussels for the contest.

The song started in Brussels with high hopes and good reviews, but scored only 64 points, reaching the 10th place. That however was a good result for a Greek entry at the time and the band was a massive hit back home. Bang pursued an international career and worked with Shep Pettibone, François Kevorkian and others. Until 1991, they issued 3 lp's and many maxi singles in Greece, Europe, USA and Japan. For their single Holding my Heart they had a video clip entirely shot in Hollywood and the single You're the One entered the British Top75 singles chart. Last but not least, Bang is the only Greek pop act that toured Japan.

Bang (Korean)

Bang is a romanization of the Korean word 방, meaning "room". In a traditional Korean house, a sarangbang (Hangul: 사랑방; Hanja: 舍廊房) is the study or drawing room, for example.

In modern Korea (especially in the South), the concept of a bang has expanded and diversified from being merely a walled segment in a domestic space, to including buildings or enterprises in commercial, urban, space, such as a PC bang (an internet café), a noraebang (a karaoke room), sojubang (a soju room, i.e. a pub), manhwabang (a manhwa room, where people read or borrow manhwa) and a jjimjilbang (elaborate Korean public bathhouse). This can be compared with the similar expansion of the concept of a "house" to include upper houses, opera houses, coffee houses, and publishing houses.

Phonetically more tensed word ppang (빵) is used as an abbreviation of a noun gambang (Hangul: 감방; Hanja: 監房; McCune-Reischauer: kambang), meaning "jail".

  • Boom! (film)

Boom! is a 1968 British drama film starring Elizabeth Taylor, Richard Burton and Noël Coward, directed by Joseph Losey, and adapted from the play The Milk Train Doesn't Stop Here Anymore by Tennessee Williams.

    Plot

Flora 'Sissy' Goforth (Taylor, in a part written for an older woman) is a terminally ill woman living with a coterie of servants in a large mansion on a secluded island. Into her life comes a mysterious man, Christopher Flanders, nicknamed "Angelo Del Morte" (played by then-husband Burton, in a part intended for a very young man). The mysterious man may or may not be "The Angel of Death".

The interaction between Goforth and Flanders forms the backbone of the plot, with both of the major characters voicing lines of dialogue that carry allegorical and Symbolist significance. Secondary characters chime in, such as "the Witch of Capri" (Coward). The movie mingles respect and contempt for human beings who, like Goforth, continue to deny their own death even as it draws closer and closer. It examines how these characters can enlist and redirect their fading erotic drive into the reinforcement of this denial.

    Boom Bang

    by: Citadino Blues & Rock

    Boom boom, bang bang
    Boom boom, bang bang
Es lo que se escucha en el campo y en la ciudad
    Boom boom, bang bang
    No quiero volver a escuchar
    Boom boom ni bang bang.
En el campo llegan y te atracan,
Si no te atracan te piden plata,
Si no les das la plata te quitan tu casa,
Tú finca, tu hacienda no no
    Te dejan hacer nada
A la hora suena en la plaza
    Boom boom y bang bang.
Lo urbano es un poco diferente
    Aquí todo el mundo pela el diente;
Si vas al centro de la ciudad,
Al norte o a la loma occidental,
    Cada hora o menos suena
    Boom boom y bang bang.
    No queremos más boom boom.
    No queremos más bang bang.
    No queremos volver a escuchar
    Boom boom ni bang bang.
    Boom boom bang bang
    Boom boom bang bang
Es lo que se escucha en el campo y en la ciudad
Boom boom boom boom boom boom bang bang
    No quiero volver a escuchar
    Boom boom ni bang bang.
En la tv suena boom boom,
En la radio oigo bang bang,
El periódico dice boom boom bang bang
    No quiero volver a escuchar
    Boom boom ni bang bang.
    No queremos más boom boom,
    No queremos mas bang bang
    No queremos más boom boom,
    No queremos mas bang bang
El pueblo esta mamado ya queremos paz,
No mas, no mas, no mas, no mas,
No mas violencia ya no mas,
No queremos volver a escuchar no no,
    No queremos volver a escuchar
    Boom boom ni bang bang
    Boom boom ni bang bang
    Boom boom ni bang bang
    Boom boom ni bang bang
    Boom boom
