Bibliophilia

Bibliophilia or bibliophilism is the love of books, and a bibliophile is an individual who loves books.

Profile

The classic bibliophile is one who loves to read, admire, and collect books, often amassing a large and specialized collection. Bibliophiles do not necessarily want to possess the books they love; an alternative would be unusual bindings, autographed copies, etc.

Usage of the term

Bibliophilia is not to be confused with bibliomania, an obsessive–compulsive disorder involving the collecting of books to the point where social relations or health is damaged, and in which the mere fact that an object is a book is sufficient for it to be collected or loved. Some use the term "bibliomania" interchangeably with "bibliophily", and in fact, the Library of Congress does not use the term "bibliophily," but rather refers to its readers as either book collectors or bibliomaniacs. The New York Public Library follows the same practice.

History

According to Arthur H. Minters, the "private collecting of books was a fashion indulged in by many Romans, including Cicero and Atticus". The term bibliophile entered the English language in 1824. A bibliophile is to be distinguished from the much older notion of a bookman (which dates back to 1583), who is one who loves books, and especially reading; more generally, a bookman is one who participates in writing, publishing, or selling books.

List of Tiny Toon Adventures characters

The Tiny Toon Adventures animated television series features an extensive cast of characters. The show's central characters are mostly various forms of anthropomorphic animals, based on Looney Tunes characters from earlier films and shows. In the series, the characters attend a school called Acme Looniversity, set in the cartoon community of Acme Acres.

Main characters

Buster Bunny

Buster Bunny (voiced by Charlie Adler in seasons 1-3, film and Tiny Toon Adventures: Defenders of the Universe and John Kassir in end of season 3, TV specials and video games) is the main character of the show along with Babs Bunny. Buster is a young, blue and white male rabbit with a red shirt and white gloves. On several instances in the show, Buster has indicated that Bugs Bunny is his mentor. In the last episode, It's a Wonderful Tiny Toon Christmas Special, Babs states that Buster is indeed her boyfriend. Charlie Adler was Buster's voice actor until the end of season 3, when he was replaced by John Kassir. However, Adler returned to voice Buster in the cancelled video game, Tiny Toon Adventures: Defenders of the Universe. Buster resembles the intrepid and intelligent side of Bugs Bunny, sometimes being incredibly ingenious compared to his mentor.

Bookworm (video game)

Bookworm is a word-forming computer puzzle game by PopCap Games. From a grid of available letters, players connect letters to form words. As words are formed, they are removed from the grid and the remaining letters collapse to fill the available space. As in Scrabble, players earn more points by creating longer words or words which use less common letters and earn less for smaller words. In November 2006, PopCap Games released a sequel, Bookworm Adventures. Bookworm was released for the Nintendo DS digital distribution service DSiWare on November 30, 2009. It has also been released on the regular Nintendo DS cartridge.

Gameplay

The game requires players to match adjacent letters to form word in the English language. Longer words are worth more points and have a greater chance of producing bonuses.

In addition to standard letters, tiles of various colors can appear depending both on the current level within the game and on the length of words being formed. The tile colors are as follows:

Bookworm

by: Margot & The Nuclear So & So's

I'm in a book,
for you to read and then throw out.
I wasn't born,
I was just dropped into your arms.
Well mom I've been bad,
and I want to come home.
And you couldn't breath,
with all those doctors at your side.
But you're talking to me,
saying I wish that I had died.
'Cause I'm being crowded,
crushed in your hands,
and I want to come home on the F train.
And if you were just a paper boat,
floating through the garden.
Lost at sea,
drift to me,
and into someone's nightmares.
A home is a highway,
your pillows a rock,
I'm in a rusted car,
