Boa knot

The boa knot is a modern binding knot invented by weaver Peter Collingwood in 1996. His intention was to develop a knot that would hold well when the constricted object was cut close to the winds of the knot.

The boa knot is related to the strangle knot and the double constrictor knot. It combines both the structure and qualities of these other two knots.

The boa knot is best used for securing objects in cylindrical loads.

Boa (Russian: Боа) is a Russian band founded in 1988 by Igor Knyazev and his cousin Sergei Serin. Boa’s musical style, a blend of Jazz, Easy Listening and Latino, has been influenced by elements of Ethno-fusion and World beat. It explains the choice of the name Boa: a short name, with the same meaning in many languages, quite exotic in Russia and advocating something tropical.

Boa’s performance credo is to combine bright, distinct melodies and unusual harmonies with ironic and smart lyrics. The current nucleus of the group is Igor Knyazev (main and background vocals, music, and lyrics) and Igor Shatsky (music, lyrics, arrangement, guitar, piano, percussion). In addition, from time to time Boa hires session musicians to diversify its repertoire.

All of Boa recordings are done by Shatsky and Knyazev, who are professional sound producers, at one of the best sound recording studio in Central Russia, The Black Box Studio in Voronezh.

Heraldic knot

A heraldic knot (referred to in heraldry as simply a knot) is a knot, unknot, or design incorporating a knot used in European heraldry. While a given knot can be used on more than one family's achievement of arms, the family on whose coat the knot originated usually gives its name to the said knot (the exception being the Tristram knot). These knots can be used to charge shields and crests, but can also be used in badges or as standalone symbols of the families for whom they are named (like Scottish plaids). The simplest of these patterns, the Bowen knot, is often referred to as the heraldic knot in symbolism and art outside of heraldry.

Wood

Wood is a porous and fibrous structural tissue found in the stems and roots of trees and other woody plants.

It has been used for thousands of years for both fuel and as a construction material. It is an organic material, a natural composite of cellulose fibers (which are strong in tension) embedded in a matrix of lignin which resists compression. Wood is sometimes defined as only the secondary xylem in the stems of trees, or it is defined more broadly to include the same type of tissue elsewhere such as in the roots of trees or shrubs. In a living tree it performs a support function, enabling woody plants to grow large or to stand up by themselves. It also conveys water and nutrients between the leaves, other growing tissues, and the roots. Wood may also refer to other plant materials with comparable properties, and to material engineered from wood, or wood chips or fiber.

The Earth contains about 434 billion cubic meters of growing stock forest, 47% of which is commercial. As an abundant, carbon-neutral renewable resource, woody materials have been of intense interest as a source of renewable energy. In 1991, approximately 3.5 cubic kilometers of wood were harvested. Dominant uses were for furniture and building construction.
