Blues in Orbit is an album by American pianist, composer and bandleader Duke Ellington recorded for the Columbia label in 1959 and released in 1960. The album was re-released on CD in 2004 with bonus tracks including alternate takes and tracks from earlier sessions.
The Allmusic review by Bruce Eder awarded the album 3 stars and stated "Blues in Orbit lacks the intellectual cachet of the suites and concept pieces that loomed large in Ellington's recordings of this period, but it's an album worth tracking down, if only to hear the band run through a lighter side of its sound. Indeed, it captures the essence of a late-night recording date that was as much a loose jam as a formal studio date, balancing the spontaneity of the former and the technical polish of the latter".

Blues in Orbit is an album by jazz composer, arranger, conductor and pianist Gil Evans, recorded in 1969 and 1971 by Evans with an orchestra featuring Jimmy Cleveland, Howard Johnson, Billy Harper, and Joe Beck. The album was originally released on the short-lived Ampex label as Gil Evans but received wider release on the Enja label under this title.
The Allmusic review by Scott Yanow awarded the album 4½ stars stating "Arranger Gil Evans's first recording as a leader in five years found him leading an orchestra that could be considered a transition between his 1950s groups and his somewhat electric band of the 1970s... A near-classic release ".

We left in rocket ships, just like the cartoon strips,
or movie scripts we've seen up on projection screens
We left the earth for a new place of worth
that we could call our own, without resistance no
And we'll stay up all night before we sleep all day
and forget about our planet, blown away
Cause it's just me and you and a small robot crew
that serves us tea for two in the orbit of the moon
We've got just two months time before rescue arrives,
our crimes are left behind, we've all got peace of mind
So why should we subject ourselves to the rigor and drudgery of a new world
When we could just stay up all night before we sleep all day
and forget about our planet, blown away
Cause it's just me and you and a small robot crew
