WHOO is the callsign for ESPN Radio 1080 the Team, an AM sports radio station in Orlando, Florida, United States. It broadcasts at a medium-wave frequency of 1080 kHz. It is owned by Genesis Communications. It broadcasts from a 27 kW transmitter in Winter Park, Florida and a 19 kW transmitter in Kissimmee, but both are drastically reduced in power in the evening (to 2 kW and 190W, respectively).
WHOO is the Orlando area affiliate for ESPN Radio. Currently it picks up the first three hours of Mike and Mike in the Morning the last two hours of The Herd with Colin Cowherd (11am-1pm), and the first two hours of The Scott Van Pelt Show (1pm-3pm), as well as overnight programming. The morning week-long local talk show, The Beat of Sports, is hosted by Marc Daniels, the voice of UCF Sports, and Orlando Sentinel sports writer Jerry Greene from 9am until 11am weekdays, while the afternoon week-long local talk show is hosted by Jerry O'Neill and Mike Tuck from 3pm until 6pm weekdays. In addition, the show "Ace and the Doc" pre-empts Scott Van Pelt on Thursdays at 1pm-3pm. The station formerly aired The Sports Section with Marc Ryan from 8pm-10pm.
ESPN 1080 The Team is also the local affiliate for the Tampa Bay Lightning and the Florida State Seminoles. It also hosts OCS Live, a weekly magazine show for Orlando City S.C., on Thursday nights during their season.
The WHOO calls were used on AM 990 in Orlando, which is now WDYZ, from 1947 to 1987 and then again from 1988 to 2001.
AM 1080 began operations in 1965 as 10,000-watt daytimer WKGF, with a Christian religious format, then became country WFIV ("The Big Five") in 1966. The country format continued until 1995, when WFIV switched to a Spanish popular music format as "Radio Selecta." WFIV then went to a Christian talk format as "Genesis 1080" in 2000. The following year, the WHOO calls moved to 1080 from 990, along with AM 990's adult standards music format, followed by a change to the current sports format in 2002.
In 2008, after rival sports station WQTM changed formats, WHOO began calling itself "The Only Game in Town". It picked up the first two hours (Noon-2pm) of The Jim Rome Show on January 8, and took the third hour of the show beginning on April 25, the day of the Jim Rome Smack-Off. Prior to picking up Jim Rome, the station carried all three hours of Colin Cowherd and Tirico and Van Pelt.
On January 21, Jerry O'Neill, formerly a stalwart on WQTM, joined WHOO. He abruptly quit Clear Channel Orlando a week after moving from WQTM to 540 WFLA. He would co-host the afternoon show with Brady Ackerman until January 12, 2009, when Ackerman quit the station in order to purchase two radio stations: WGGG in Gainesville and WMOP in Ocala, both sister ESPN Radio stations. Also on January 12, WHOO ditched its original moniker of "Orlando's ESPN" in favor of "1080 the Team".
After Ackerman left, show producer Brian Fritz briefly filled in as O'Neill's co-host. On February 8, 2009, Mike Tuck, who co-hosted with Jerry O'Neill on WQTM and 540 WFLA before O'Neill left, jumped to WHOO and replaced Brady Ackerman on their afternoon sports show. The show is now titled: Tuck & O'Neill. Ironically, WQTM re-branded again as "740 the Game" and changed call letters to WYGM, returning to the sports format.

Don't you cry, don't you look so sad
We both knew somehow this day would come
I know you want what is best for me
And I need to see you smile
From where I started off to where I am
It's a million miles, I can't go back there again
But no matter where I go from here
You will be part of me from now on
For every door that opens up
When another has to close
You got to trust me now
Be strong and let me go
Watch me now as I go my way
The time has come
And I gotta say I'm not afraid
Watch me now, every step I take
I feel stronger, so much stronger
The road ahead is a mystery
Your love is here
Oh and I believe inside of me
Watch me now, I can stand my ground
I will be alright, yes I'll be alright
You were someone who believed in me
When I wasn't even sure of myself
And I always will remember how
You were always there to help
And I heard so many things from you
And I'm ready now to try them out in the world
Though it hurts too much to say goodbye
We both know (We both know)
There's no other way
I will feel your loving arms
When I'm out there in the cold
'Cause all of my thoughts of you
Will still be mine to hold
Watch me now as I go my way
The time has come
And I gotta say I'm not afraid
Watch me now, every step I take
I feel stronger, so much stronger
The road ahead is a mystery
Your love is here
Oh and I believe inside of me
Watch me now, I can stand my ground
I will be alright, yes I'll be alright
You will find me running back sometime
When I really need a guiding hand
We'll be closer than we were before
And I know that you will understand
I know you'll understand
Watch me now as I go my way
The time has come
And I gotta say I'm not afraid
Watch me now, every step I take
I feel stronger, so much stronger
The road ahead is a mystery
Your love is here
Oh and I believe inside of me
Watch me now, I can stand my ground
I will be alright, yes I'll be alright
