Stella Parton (born May 4, 1949) is an American country singer and songwriter. Parton is best known for a series of country singles that charted during the mid- to late-1970s, her biggest hit being 1975's "I Want to Hold You In My Dreams Tonight".

Early life

Born in Sevierville, Tennessee, Parton is the sixth of twelve children born to father, Robert Lee Parton Sr., and mother, Avie Lee Caroline Owens.

When Stella was seven, she and older sister Dolly appeared on a local Knoxville, Tennessee television program and two years later, she made her debut on radio. During this time, Stella and her sisters Willadeene and Cassie formed a group that sang gospel music and commercials around the eastern Tennessee area. During her high school years, Parton began writing songs. She married Marvin Carroll Rauhuff just prior to her high school graduation in 1966. They have one son.

Blue Heart was written by Caryl Churchill and copyrighted in 1997. The play is two one act plays. The first play, Heart’s Desire, is about a family waiting on the arrival of their daughter Suzy. The second play Blue Kettle, is about a man named Derek who goes around telling women they're his mother because he was adopted at birth. The women believe him and truly find ways to tell him the way he is their son.

The first play in the piece, Heart's Desire, is about a family who is waiting on their daughter Suzy. She is coming home to visit from Australia where she is located now. It starts off with her parents Brian her father and Alice her mother and her aunt Maisie waiting on her. Brian is saying that she is taking her time to get there and how he felt that they should’ve met her at the airport. While Alice is telling to just wait she will make it as soon as she can The main Characters of the plays are Brian and Alice of Heart Desire. In the play Blue Kettle the main character is Derek.
