Medium (TV series)

Medium is an American television drama series that premiered on NBC on January 3, 2005, ending its run on that network on June 1, 2009. The series then moved to CBS on September 25, 2009, airing its final episode overall on January 21, 2011.

Themed on supernatural gifts, its lead character, Allison DuBois (played by Patricia Arquette), is a medium employed as a consultant for the Phoenix, Arizona district attorney's office. Allison and her husband Joe (Jake Weber) are the parents of three daughters, all of whom inherited Allison's gift. The show was initially based on the experiences of medium Allison DuBois, who claims she has worked with law enforcement agencies across the country in criminal investigations.

Medium was created by Glenn Gordon Caron and was produced by his company Picturemaker Productions and Kelsey Grammer's Grammnet Productions in association with Paramount Network Television from 2005–06, CBS Paramount Network Television from 2006–09 (after the split of Viacom and CBS Corporation), and finally CBS Television Studios from 2009 until the series ended.

Medium (company)

Founded as Cross Computer Consulting on January 1, 1999, incorporated as Coptix Inc. on January 1, 2002, and re-branded as Medium on April 9, 2009, Medium is a Chattanooga, Tennessee based graphic design, web design, and web development company with clients such as Rock/Creek, Chattem, redbox, Olan Mills, Hardee's,PGi, Alberto-Culver, and Yanmar. Medium is a member of the AIGA & the American Advertising Federation.

Bill Cahan Spoofs

Medium gained attention throughout the design community when in January 2007 it produced and distributed via YouTube a series of video spoofs of the Cahan & Associates promotional video featuring noted designer Bill Cahan.

Karl Rove Photo Hoax

Medium gained national media attention in April 2007 after a prank in which, the previous month, they photoshopped a photo of White House advisor Karl Rove to make him appear to be holding a folder with the Coptix (the former named of Medium) logo on the cover. Blogs such as Wonkette - which called the hoax photo "a crime scene" - and DailyKos ran the doctored photo and claimed (as Wonkette put it) that it proved "without a doubt that Karl Rove is illegally running all the White House e-mail through a private company" to avoid the automatic archiving of the White House email system. Sites that fell prey to the hoax had failed to notice Sleestaks also had been added to the photograph in a television shown in the background.

Medium (season 5)

The fifth season of Medium, an American television series, began February 2, 2009, and ended on June 1, 2009. It aired on NBC.

Plot

Season 5 gets off to a better start for the DuBois family. Allison gets her job back working for the DA, while Joe gets hired by a greedy entrepreneur who wants and expects Allison to dream up winning stock prices. Allison finds herself being stalked by a deranged fanatic and gets the job opportunity of a lifetime, but it's for the boss whose son is a serial killer so they can keep her quiet since she works for the DA. Meanwhile, Cynthia Keener makes one more appearance in this season trying to help a girl that was raped and kidnapped years earlier only to do exactly the same thing to the guy who kidnapped her turns the tables on him and gets his wife, but Ms. Keener while still in prison for killing her daughter's killer helps Allison save the young woman. Enzo Rossi the real life son of Patricia Arquette plays a character in the episode A Person of Interest. Unfortunately, the season ends on a bad turn, Allison discovers she has a brain tumor located in her brain stem, but puts off her surgery to catch two bad guys, one working for Devalos and the other in a drug cartel. NBC renewed the show for its 6th season, but canceled it at the last minute, but CBS who owns the rights to it picked it up within 24 hours after NBC canceled it.

Blood (OSI album)

Blood is the third studio album by American progressive rock band OSI, released by InsideOut Music on April 27, 2009 in Europe and May 19, 2009 in North America.

Guitarist Jim Matheos and keyboardist and vocalist Kevin Moore started work on the album in 2008, collaborating by email. Matheos would send Moore a song idea which Moore would edit and send back to Matheos. Mike Portnoy of Dream Theater, who performed drums on Office of Strategic Influence and Free, was replaced by Porcupine Tree drummer Gavin Harrison on Blood. Matheos played bass guitar on the album, having hired guest musicians to perform bass duties on the first two OSI albums. Mikael Åkerfeldt of Opeth and Tim Bowness of No-Man wrote lyrics and performed vocals on one track each.

Critical reception of Blood was generally positive. The more atmospheric and ambient tracks were praised; the more metal-oriented tracks received mixed reactions. Moore's lyrics and Harrison's drumming, in particular, were met with acclaim.

Bordeaux wine

A Bordeaux wine is any wine produced in the Bordeaux region of France, centred on the city of Bordeaux and covering the whole area of the Gironde department, with a total vineyard area of over 120,000 hectares, making it the largest wine growing area in France. Average vintages produce over 700 million bottles of Bordeaux wine, ranging from large quantities of everyday table wine, to some of the most expensive and prestigious wines in the world. Eighty-nine percent of wine produced in Bordeaux is red (called "claret" in Britain), with sweet white wines (most notably Sauternes), dry whites, and (in much smaller quantities) rosé and sparkling wines (Crémant de Bordeaux) collectively making up the remainder. Bordeaux wine is made by more than 8,500 producers or châteaux. There are 54 appellations of Bordeaux wine.

History

The vine was introduced to the Bordeaux region by the Romans, probably in the mid-1st century, to provide wine for local consumption, and wine production has been continuous in the region since then.

Blood (Stan Ridgway and Pietra Wexstun album)

Blood is a collaborative album by American singer-songwriter Stan Ridgway and electronic musician Pietra Wexstun. It was released on September 23, 2003 by Sympathy for the Record Industry and A440 Records.

IBM Power (software)

POWER was an IBM operating system enhancement package that provided spooling facilities for the IBM System/360 running DOS/360 or retrofitted with modified DOS/360. Upgrades, POWER/VS and POWER/VSE were available for and the IBM System/370 running DOS/VS and DOS/VSE respectively. POWER is an acronym for Priority Output Writers, Execution processors and input Readers.

The product

POWER was an operating system enhancement available for DOS/360, DOS/VS, and DOS/VSE, and came packaged with some third party DOS-based operating systems. International Business Machines released POWER in 1969 following a public introduction at the IBM Wall Street Data Center.

It 'spooled' (queued) printer and card data, freeing programs from being dependent upon the speed of printers or punched card equipment.

POWER competed with non-IBM products, namely DataCorp's The Spooler and SDI's GRASP. Unlike the other products, POWER required a dedicated partition.

It allowed a single printer (1403/2311), punch (2520, 2540) or reader (2540, 2501) to be shared by two or more processing partitions. Input data was asynchronously loaded and directed to the proper partition by Job class. Output was directed to disk and stored there - then directed to a printer or punch by the writer type, (PRT, PUN), Job Class, Priority and form code. This was provided in PRT and PUN control cards in the input stream. Once the operator put the proper form in the printer/punch and told power to start (G PUN or G PRT on the console) the device would continue until no more output of that type was available. When a new form was encountered it would alert the operator to change forms and wait for the next go command.
