Billy Talent is a Canadian punk rock band from Mississauga, Ontario. They formed in 1993 with Benjamin Kowalewicz as the lead vocalist, Ian D'Sa on guitar, bassist Jon Gallant and drummer Aaron Solowoniuk. There have been no lineup changes, although Aaron is currently taking a hiatus from the band due to an MS relapse, Jordan Hastings from Alexisonfire is currently filling in for him.
The band existed for almost a decade before mainstream success. The members met and played in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Secondary School under the name Pezz and remained underground in Toronto's indie music scene until 2001. The band renamed itself Billy Talent after running into legal trouble with the old name. It was then that Kowalewicz's connection with an employee of Warner Music Canada's A&R department landed the band a record deal and launched them into mainstream success. Since then, Billy Talent has made two multi-platinum records in Canada, and continues to expand their success overseas, this included touring for 20 months supporting their second album. They released their third album, entitled Billy Talent III, on July 14, 2009, and their fourth album, entitled Dead Silence, on September 4, 2012. Dead Silence was followed up by a full UK tour over the course of October and November 2012. To commemorate the longevity since the release of their first studio album, the band has released a greatest hits album entitled "Hits" on November 4, 2014.
Billy Talent is the debut studio album of Canadian band Billy Talent, after their first, Watoosh!, was released under their old name of Pezz in 1999. Billy Talent was certified 3 times platinum in Canada in January 2007. The album was nominated for Best Rock Album at 2004 Juno Awards. The album was recorded at The Factory in Vancouver, British Columbia.
In 2005, Billy Talent was ranked number 453 in Rock Hard magazine's book of The 500 Greatest Rock & Metal Albums of All Time.
On August 2013, Billy Talent announced a Canadian tour for Fall of that year entitled "A Return to The Roots" which they played their entire first self-titled album live to celebrate its 10th year anniversary. Soon after the tour, the band announced a 10th Anniversary reissue of the album released November 26. 2013 through Warner Bros. Records that features a bonus disc of rare demos and live recordings of the album's tracklist.
All songs written and composed by Billy Talent.
Billy Talent II is the second studio album by the Canadian band Billy Talent, released on June 27, 2006. The album debuted at #1 on the Canadian Albums Chart, selling 48,000 copies in its first week. The album also reached #1 on the German albums chart. The album was not as successful in the United States, where it peaked at #134 on the Billboard 200 music chart, selling just 7,231 units in its first week.
The band temporarily released the entire album to their MySpace page for June 23.
Beginning in the fall of 2005, songs from the new album were purposely leaked by the band. A demo of "Red Flag" circulated across the internet, even though it had already appeared on the soundtracks to Burnout Revenge, Burnout Legends, SSX On Tour, EA Sports' NHL 06, and on the Atlantic Records compilation Black by Popular Demand.
"Devil In A Midnight Mass" was the first single. A demo of the song was released on MySpace and Purevolume on Christmas Day of 2005, and the official single was released on April 20, 2006. "Red Flag" was released as the second single. A video for it was shot on July 21, 2006, in Los Angeles, California.
I stumble through the wreckage rusted from the rain
There's nothin' left to salvage, no one left to blame
Among the broken mirrors I don't look the same
I'm rusted from the rain, I'm rusted from the rain
Dissect me till my blood runs down into the drain
My bitter heart is pumpin' oil into my veins
I'm nothin' but a tin man, don't feel any pain
I don't feel any pain, I don't feel any pain
I'm rusted from the rain
Go on crush me like a flower rusted from the rain
Come on strip me of my power, beat me with your chains
And if I'm the king of cowards you're the queen of pain
I'm rusted from the rain, I'm rusted from the rain
You hung me like a picture, now I'm just a frame
I used to be your lap dog, now I'm just a stray
Shackled in the graveyard left here to decay
Left here to decay, left here to decay
I'm rusted from the rain
Go on crush me like a flower rusted from the rain
Come on strip me of my power, beat me with your chains
And if I'm the king of cowards you're the queen of pain
I'm rusted from the rain, I'm rusted from the rain
I'm rusted from the rain
Go on crush me like a flower rusted from the rain
Come on strip me of my power, beat me with your chains
And if I'm the king of cowards you're the queen of pain
I'm rusted from the rain, I'm rusted from the rain
Go on crush me like a flower rusted from the rain
Come on strip me of my power, beat me with your chains
And if I'm the king of cowards you're the queen of pain
I'm rusted from the rain, I'm rusted from the rain
Oh, the sun will shine again, I'm rusted from the rain
I'm rusted from the rain
Oh, the sun will shine again, I'm rusted from the rain
