William Herbert 'Billy' King (17 August 1920 – 23 August 1990) was an Australian rules footballer who played for South Melbourne in the VFL during the 1940s. King, who started his career at South Melbourne in 1940, was recruited from Ascot Vale. Primarily a wingman, he participated in the famous 1945 'Bloodbath' Grand Final which South Melbourne lost to Carlton. In 1947 he represented Victoria at the Hobart Carnival and was selected in the 'Sporting Life' Team of the Year.

Billy King (footballer, born 1994)

Billy King (born 12 May 1994) is a Scottish professional footballer who plays for Rangers, on loan from Scottish Premiership side Heart of Midlothian, as a forward.

Club career

A member of the club's under-20 squad on 27 October 2012, King was promoted to the first team for their match against Ross County where he was an unused substitute. He remained an unused substitute on three further occasions before on 30 January 2013, King aged 18, made his first team debut playing from the start in a 1–0 victory over Dundee in the Scottish Premier League.

In January 2016, King moved on loan to Scottish Championship side Rangers until the end of the season, with the move taking place to allow King to get first-team games in order to continue his recovery from injury. He made his first appearance for Rangers against Falkirk on 30 January 2016, coming on as a substitute for Kenny Miller, scoring the winning goal in the 90th minute.

International career

He has represented Scotland at Under 15 and at Under 16 level. King was called up to the at Under 19 team in August 2012, for an international challenge match against Norway but had to withdraw. He then took part in their Dutch training camp in January, playing in a friendly against Dutch team Telstar.

Billy King (cricketer)

William Robert "Billy" King (16 December 1902 in County Clare, Ireland – January 1987 in Dublin) was an all-round sportsman who played cricket for both Ireland and the Straits Settlements, and played rugby union for Singapore.

Biography

Educated mainly in Tipperary, he excelled at sport, particularly cricket and rugby union. He entered Dublin University in 1921, where he quickly found himself part of the cricket team, for whom he played a first-class match against Essex in 1922. His sole appearance for the Irish national side came against Wales in August 1923, scoring 45 as Ireland beat Wales by an innings.

Soon after that match, he took up an appointment in Singapore, and eventually played both rugby for Singapore and cricket for the Straits Settlements, playing against the Federated Malay States in 1926. He joined the army in 1941, and was awarded the Military Medal for bravery in the Battle of Singapore. He was captured when the city fell and spent the remainder of the war in Changi Prison. He later returned to live in Ireland, and married late in life, having children in his late 70s.

Billy King (basketball)

Billy King (born January 23, 1966) is the former general manager of the Brooklyn Nets, and former general manager and team president of the Philadelphia 76ers. King grew up in Sterling, Virginia where he played basketball at Park View High School, and received a scholarship to play at Duke University and wore jersey number 55. He was known primarily for his tough defense. In his senior season, he served as a captain of Duke's 1988 Final Four team. King joined the 76ers on June 2, 1997, as Vice-President of basketball administration. On May 19, 1998, he was promoted to General Manager, and on April 5, 2000, he signed a new year contract to stay with the team for an extended term. On May 26, 2003 he was named President along with General Manager. He married Melanie Lynn Frantz on August 27, 2005.

In 2005, King and other individuals became prominent investors in a Foxwoods slots casino proposed for Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. In September 2008, facing massive opposition at the originally proposed waterfront location, backers for the slots casino decided to seek a new location in the Center City area, next to Philadelphia's Chinatown community. As of January, 2009, the casino still does not have a building permit.
