Big Trouble (novel)

Big Trouble is a novel written by Dave Barry. It was made into a film version in 2001. However, the film was not released until 2002 because of the September 11 attacks. Barry, who used to write for the Miami Herald, set the novel's events in and around Miami, Florida.

In point of fact, this plot-line, below, is the plot-line of the movie. The book is far more detailed, and ironic. I.E. How Eliot, at the end, gets a job being a copywriter for the Seminal Fluids (which he detests) because of the submission, by his client, of his client's artwork in his name, which is suitably rude and crass as to gain the attention and accolade of the Seminal Fluids' management. In addition, there is the ongoing joke about subcontractors, and how they tend to get knocked-off in boating accidents, when they become a political/legal hot potato - and how that fate eventually finds Arthur.

Plot

The story follows a large cast of people as they go about their lives. A boy named Matt is involved in a high school game called Killer, where he must squirt a girl named Jenny with a water gun, but with only one witness. Attempting to sneak into her house at night, Matt takes everyone completely by surprise, causing Jenny and her mother, Anna, to attack him, and Jenny's mean stepfather, Arthur, to fall over - just missing being hit by two hitmen who also showed up. The housemaid, a young Mexican immigrant named Nina, panics and runs from the house towards the hitmen. She is rescued by a young homeless man named Puggy, who was living in a tree on the property.

Big Trouble (band)

Big Trouble was a female pop group formed in America, who recorded one album and released a total of two minor hit singles.

History

Like the formation of 60s group The Monkees, Big Trouble was an all female pop group put together by TV executive Fred Silverman. The group consisted of vocalist Bobbie Eakes, bassist Julia Farey, keyboardist Rebecca Ryan and drummer Suzy Zarow. Eakes was originally Miss Georgia in 1983.

After deciding on all band members except the vocalist, Silverman auditioned approximately five hundred vocalists, where Eakes was the one to win the part.

The band made their start on the Mack & Jamie comedy show, whilst they would often appear as the "house band" on the series Comedy Break, where Eakes would occasionally appear as a performer in the sketches.

The band signed to Epic Records in 1987, and recorded their first single - a Giorgio Moroder and Tom Whitlock track titled "All I Need is You". It was released as a promotional single, and featured in the film Over the Top, starring Sylvester Stallone. The song was included on the official soundtrack release, which was released during the same year.

Teba

Teba is a town and municipality located in the province of Málaga in the autonomous community of Andalusia in southern Spain. It is situated in the northeast of the province. It belongs to the comarca of Guadalteba. Located on an outlying spur of the sierras north east of Ronda, some 15 kilometres north of Ardales, and with a population of some 4,300 people. Below the town is the site of the Battle of Teba which took place in 1330 during the Reconquista. Sir James Douglas, a leading associate of King Robert I of Scotland, was killed there.
