Bharatha People also Bharatakula are a Sri Lankan caste of Paravar immigrants from Tamil Nadu in India.
In India they were traditional fishers' merchants and traders. Most are Roman Catholics although a significant minority practice Hinduism.
Paravar are to be found all over Sri Lanka. Amongst Sri Lankan Tamils Paravar are still a fishing and trading caste although commonly confused with the Karaiyar. The Bharatas or Bharatakula identity is maintained by a relatively prosperous merchant group from India that settled amongst the Sinhalese in the Negombo area.
Already in India, keeping with the tradition of Sanskritisation they had their name as Bharatas a Vedic tribe of Indian mythology from North India. In Sri Lanka they have maintained this caste myth and claim North Indian Kshatriya varna or caste origins. It is also noteworthy that the Bharatas in the Rig Veda were a clan among the Indo-Aryan Pauravas who fought away Iranian invaders.
Bhāratas were a tribe mentioned in the Rigveda, especially in Mandala 3 attributed to the Bharata sage Vishvamitra. Scholars believe the Bharatas to be a Vedic tribe in Punjab in the second millennium B.C.E. In the "river hymn" RV 3.33, the entire Bharata rulers are described as crossing a river Yamuna. Bharatá is also used as a name of Agni (literally, "to be maintained", viz. the fire having to be kept alive by the care of men), and as a name of Rudra in RV 2.36.8.
Mandala 7 (7.18 etc.) mentions the Bharatas as taking part in the Battle of the Ten Kings, where they are on the winning side. Due to the victory of the Bharata chieftain Sudas in this battle, the Bharata rulers were able to settle in the Kurukshetra area. They appear to have been successful in the early power-struggles between the various Aryan and non-Aryan rulers so that in post-Vedic (Epic) tradition, the Mahābhārata, the eponymous ancestor becomes Emperor Bharata, the ancient conqueror of all of India, and his ruler and kingdom is called Bhārata. The Bharata ruler later allied and merged with the Puru ruler, to form the Kuru ruler.
You've got style looking so sharp
Rocking hot smile you're gonna go far
Believe in yourself
You don't need to be who you're not
All that you need is all that you've got
Just believe in yourself
You should know what you are
Money can't buy
'Cause you should know
It's all about you
It's not about the money you make
It's not about the little mistakes
It's not about the people you know
You'll be fine on your own
It's not about the clothes that you wear
It's not about the car, I swear
It's the little things you say and you do
It's all about you, it's all about you
Have fun in all that you do
Listen to your heart, it's always so true
We believe in you
You can't stop, reach for the stars
Time will tell, tell people who you are
We believe in you
You should know what you are
Money can't buy
You should know
It's all about you
It's not about the money you make
It's not about the little mistakes
It's not about the people you know
You'll be fine on your own
It's not about the clothes that you wear
It's not about the car, I swear
It's the little things you say and you do
It's all about you, it's all about you
If things are spinning around
We'll pick you up when you're down
You don't have to worry my friend
You should know it's all about you
It's not about the people you know
It's not about the seats at the show
It's not about the places you go
It's not about the money you make
It's not about the little mistakes
It's not about the people you know
You'll be fine on your own
It's not about the clothes that you wear
It's not about the car, I swear
It's the little things you say and you do
It's all about you
It's not about the money you make
It's not about the little mistakes
It's not about the people you know
You'll be fine on your own
It's not about the clothes that you wear
It's not about the car, I swear
It's the little things you say and you do
It's all about you
It's not about the money you make
It's not about the little mistakes
It's not about the people you know
You'll be fine on your own
It's not about the clothes that you wear
It's not about the car, I swear
It's the little things you say and you do
