Bhanupriya

Manga Bhama, known by her stage name Bhanupriya, is a main stream Indian actress who has predominately appeared in Telugu and Tamil films. She has also acted in Malayalam, Kannada and Bollywood films.

Early life

Bhanupriya was born in Rangampeta village, near Rajamundry, Andhra Pradesh, into a Telugu family. Her family settled in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. She has a younger sister Shantipriya who was also a film actress in 1990s.

Bhanupriya fell in love with Adarsh Kaushal, a Hyderabadi settled in the United States as a digital graphics’ engineer. Subsequently, the couple got married at the Sri Venkateswara temple in Malibu, California on 14 June 1998. The couple have a daughter Abhinaya born in 2003. Bhanupriya divorced Kaushal in 2005 and returned to India, where she resumed her acting career. Bhanupriya now lives in Chennai with her daughter Abhinaya.

Film career

Bhanupriya has acted in over 150 films as the female lead after beginning her acting career when she was just 17. Her first film was Mella Pesungal (1983) in Tamil. She made her Telugu debut with Sitaara, directed by veteran Vamsy. She has acted in over 80 Telugu films, about 40 Tamil films, 15 Hindi films, 12 Malayalam and 5 Kannada films.
