Beyond Re-Animator

Beyond Re-Animator is a 2003 Spanish horror film directed by Brian Yuzna and starring Jeffrey Combs, Jason Barry, Simón Andreu, Elsa Pataky and Santiago Segura. It is the third installment of the Re-Animator (film series).

The film premiered on the Sci-Fi Channel, though it was produced independently and acquired by the channel only as a distributor; this showing was cut to a TV-PG rating. The subsequently released DVD was rated R, but there is a slightly longer unrated cut available in some countries. It also received a limited theatrical run in the U.S.

Plot

For the past 13 years, Dr. Herbert West (Jeffrey Combs) has been serving a prison sentence due to a murder at the hands of one of his zombies. With what scant supplies he has on hand in the prison medical center, Dr. West has been capable of performing only extremely basic experiments on rats. However, his lack of supplies does not prevent him from uncovering a key element in his re-animation process. Dr. West has discovered "NPE" (Nano-Plasmic Energy), an energy that can be extracted from the brain of a living organism through an electrocution-like process, to be stored in a capsule resembling a small light bulb. The capsule can then be connected to a corpse and used in conjunction with West's previously developed reagent to restore the former dead to a lifelike state. The NPE prevents the degeneration seen in previous instances, where the reanimated are nothing more than mindless zombies. Used together with the re-agent, reanimated corpses regain their skills, memories, and motor functions and nearly fully resemble normal humans.

Beyond (Omnium Gatherum album)

Beyond is the sixth full-length studio album of Finnish melodic death metal band Omnium Gatherum and their second record released on Lifeforce Records. The album was released digitally worldwide on February 22, 2013, and physical CD was released in Finland, Germany, Switzerland and Australia on February 22, in the rest of Europe on February 25, and in North America on March 5. the album was produced by Teemu Aalto and Sami Koivisto and recorded at Teemu Aalto Music Productions studio (except for drums, which was recorded at Nordic Audio Labs by Sami Koivisto). It was mixed and mastered by Dan Swanö at Unisound Studio. The album's artwork was created by Olli Lappalainen.

Beyond is one of the most anticipated releases by the band since they made their breakthrough with their previous album New World Shadows. As stated by guitarist Markus Vanhala on the band's official website "The album follows the good known path of “New World Shadows” and “The Redshift” but adds a lot of new flavours and spices to the good ol' melting pot to lift the band to a new heights." Markus also stated that Beyond is their most melodic and versatile album so far but still holds the brutal side in terms of Jukka Pelkonen's vocals. The basic theme of the album is about the culmination point of one's existence. It is a coming home story where the mysteries of duality are melted into oneness but without losing one single point of individuality along the arrival.

The Animatrix

The Animatrix (アニマトリックス, Animatorikkusu) is a 2003 American-Japanese best-sellingdirect-to-video anthology film based on The Matrix trilogy produced by The Wachowskis, who wrote and directed the trilogy. The film is a compilation of nine animated short films, including four written by the Wachowskis. It details the backstory of the Matrix universe, including the original war between man and machines which led to the creation of the Matrix.

Beyond (Virgin Comics)

Beyond is a three issue series from Virgin Comics. It was created by Deepak Chopra and written by Ron Marz with art by Edison George and is being adapted from a screenplay written by Chopra.

Plot

The solicit described the series as "Chopra's original story of an American businessman who is propelled across dimensions and into an adventure like no other. While traveling in India with his family, his wife disappears, he will stop at nothing - and go literally anywhere - to save her." The following issue will continue the journey of Michael (the protagonist) in his search for his wife Anna.

The series was planned to run 4 issues in its debut arc but only 3 issues were published.

Movie adaptation

Suri Krishnamma will direct the film adaptation of the supernatural thriller comic, the screenplay is currently in works from Deepak Chopra. It will produce by Gotham Chopra and Sharad Devarajan and as executive producers works John Garland and Michael Dufficy.

ANIMATOR (festival)

The ANIMATOR International Animated Film Festival (Polish: Międzynarodowy Festiwal Filmów Animowanych ANIMATOR), organized in Poznań under the patronage of the city of Poznań since 2008, is the most important international animated film festival in Poland. During every edition of this event more than 500 films from all over the world, including retrospectives, thematic reviews, premieres and screenings with live music and rarely shown works of animation pioneers are presented.

The festival reviews are accompanied by the International Short and Full-length Animated Film Competition, judged by an international jury, for which films from more than fifty countries are entered. The grand prize awarded at this competition is the Golden Pegasus (Polish: "Złoty Pegaz").

The activities of the Animator Festival include meetings with artists, exhibitions, performances, concerts, workshops and lectures. A distinguishing feature of the ANIMATOR Festival is its focusing on the interrelations between animation and music. Many screenings are accompanied by live music, performed by a jazz trio, rock band, DJ collective or symphonic orchestra.
