Yo soy Betty, la fea

Yo soy Betty, la fea ("I am Betty, the Ugly one") is a telenovela filmed in Colombia, written by Fernando Gaitán and produced from 25 October 1999 to 8 May 2001 by the Colombian network RCN (Radio Cadena Nacional). More than a dozen versions of the telenovela have been made in other countries. In the United States, both the comedy-drama hit Ugly Betty and Televisa program La Fea Más Bella are based on the Colombian soap opera.

Betty, la Fea re-aired on Spanish-language U.S. network TeleFutura in January 2009. Eight years after the telenovela's original run, the highly anticipated return of the original version of Yo Soy Betty, La Fea delivered impressive ratings for the network, attracting over one million viewers, more than half a million of which were adults aged 18–49. In addition, the premiere episode doubled and in some cases nearly tripled its prior audience among all key demographics.

Due to the success of re-runs aired in the United States, in June 2009, Yo soy Betty, la fea re-aired in México on Canal de las Estrellas.

I Love Betty La Fea

I Love Betty La Fea (stylized as i ♥ Betty La Fea) is a Philippine drama series that was aired on ABS-CBN, based on the Colombian series Yo soy Betty, la fea from RCN Televisión that began airing on September 8, 2008 and ended on April 24, 2009. From October 5, 2009 until May 28, 2010, it was aired in the United States and Canada via The Filipino Channel. The actual Miss World, Megan Young, played one of the villains of the series with Ruffa Gutierrez, Miss World Philippines and 3rd place at Miss World 1993.

Plot

Beatriz Pengson, or simply Betty is an aesthetically challenged career-oriented girl who happens to work in a posh advertising agency known as Ecomoda Manila. In an industry where everyone thrives on beauty and perfection, her lack of good looks and outdated sense of fashion make her an instant outcast amongst her superficial colleagues. Despite her shortcomings, Betty's capabilities and innate kindheartedness have gained her a set of loyal friends.

Betty's lackluster life, however, heads a turn for the better (or is it for worse?) when she meets the man of her dreams Armando Solis, the President of Ecomoda Manila. How will Betty catch the elusive heart of someone who's way out of her league? Is it possible that a good-looking guy like Armando will eventually fall in love with a certified ugly duckling?
