Benjamin Smith (actor)

Benjamin Smith (born 27 December 1989) is an English actor.

Smith played Damien Trotter in Only Fools and Horses from 2001 to 2003. Among his other early roles are Holby City, Goodnight Mister Tom and Second Sight. He played Luke in the 2006 Doctor Who episode "School Reunion" and Jack in the BBC's Sherlock Holmes and the Baker Street Irregulars (2007).

In 2008, he played Tegs on EastEnders and Donny on Skins.

Smith also appeared in Teachers, The Bill and Help! I'm a Teenage Outlaw. He had a recurring guest role in the first series of the E4 series Misfits (2009). That year he also appeared in the film Nowhere Boy. In 2010 he was the main character in episode 2 of the Jimmy McGovern-penned BBC drama serial Accused, where he played Frankie, a young soldier who seeks revenge on an army corporal after his friend commits suicide due to the corporal's actions.

In the following few years Smith had roles in Scott & Bailey, The Honourable Woman and Common, also written by Jimmy McGovern. In 2015 he appeared in the Channel 4 police comedy-drama No Offence.

Benjamin Francis Smith (born 3 April 1972) is an English cricketer: a right-handed batsman and occasional right-arm medium-pace bowler.

Leicestershire

Smith played for the Leicestershire second team for a couple of years as a teenager before making his first-class debut in the 1990 season in a game against Oxford University; he was lbw for four in his only innings, but got another chance in a County Championship match against Glamorgan a fortnight later. He made 15 not out in the first innings before Leicestershire declared, and not batting at all in the second. He did not play another first-class game that season, though he did make a handful of appearances in the Refuge Assurance League.

Smith went on the 1990-91 Under-19 tour to New Zealand, and played in all five of their matches (two "ODIs" and three "Tests"). He made no real impression with the bat, with a top score of only 44, but had some success as a bowler, taking the wicket of future New Zealand senior team captain Stephen Fleming on three occasions in the "Tests". Back in England, he had a reasonable 1991 season, making 674 first-class runs at an average of 37.44, although the highest of his 23 innings was only 71.

Benjamin Sandipher Smith (March 16, 1921 – July 21, 2009) was an American golfer.

Smith was born in Fort Myers, Florida. In 1938 and 1939 he won the Florida State High School Championship, and was offered a golf scholarship to go to Tulane University, but by chance he met Thomas Trueblood, the golf coach at University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, and he invited Smith to come to University of Michigan and live as his houseboy. He moved to Ann Arbor in 1939, and in his four years at the University of Michigan he finished 3rd, 2nd, and 1st in the Big Ten Championship.

In 1950, he won the Michigan Amateur at Gull Lake. He also won the GAM Championship five times and qualified for six USGA Championships.

In 1943, Smith was the president of the National Intercollegiate Golf Association and worked with Chick Evans in his caddy scholarship program.

After he graduated from Michigan, Smith served three and a half years in the US Navy, and then returned to Detroit. He joined Fife Electric Supply Company in 1946 and became the owner in 1973. He was also the president of the National Association of Electrical Distributors in 1975-1976.
