Ben Cooper

Ben Cooper (born September 30, 1933) is a retired American actor of film and television, who won a Golden Boot Award in 2005 for his work in Westerns.

Film and television career

Cooper's earliest credited screen appearance was as an eighteen-year-old in 1952–1953 on the Armstrong Circle Theatre, then on NBC, in the two episodes "The Commandant's Clock" and "Changing Dream". Thereafter, he appeared in numerous films such as Thunderbirds, Johnny Guitar and The Rose Tattoo.

Starting in 1959, Cooper began appearing on dozens of television westerns, starting with NBC's Tales of Wells Fargo. Other series include Wagon Train, Bonanza and Rawhide.

Personal life

Cooper, a native of Hartford, Connecticut, resides in the Greater Los Angeles Area. He has two daughters. He attended Columbia University in New York City. His wife, actress Pamela R. Cooper, died in 2008.

Benjamin Nicolas Cooper (born 10 February 1992) is a cricketer. He played for the Netherlands in the 2014 ICC World Twenty20 tournament. He is the brother of fellow cricketer Tom Cooper. He currently plays for VRA cricket club in the Netherlands as a player-coach. He made his first class debut against Scotland in the 2015–17 ICC Intercontinental Cup on 9 September 2015.

Ben Cooper is a singer/songwriter from Jacksonville, Florida. He is currently a member of Electric President with Alex Kane, Radical Face (formerly known as Radical Face Versus Phalex Sledgehammer), Iron Orchestra (alongside his brother), Mother's Basement and Unkle Stiltskin, The Clone Project (with Rick Colado), among other musical projects.

Ben grew up in a family of nine siblings and states his family as his biggest influence. His creative streak originated from a passion for drawing and painting early on, and by middle school he had begun making short movies with friends and playing music.

At the age of 19, Ben Cooper decided he wanted to become a writer, writing two books. However, Ben did not backup his files and the computer crashed, whereby he took it outside and smashed it with a hammer. It was with this turn of events that Ben started creating music for himself which would eventually form into an unintended career, despite his original intentions.

Cooper met Alex Kane in 2000 in a band called Helicopter Project when asked to replace the lead singer of the band, and the two have worked together on various projects since. Most of Ben Cooper's tracks are reportedly recorded in a tool shed outside his house. In 2011, Ben Cooper released a new album under the alias "Patients". He is perhaps best known for his 2007 track "Welcome Home," which featured on an advertisement for Nikon cameras .

Ben Cooper is a professional rugby league footballer of the 1990s, and 2000s, playing at club level for Stanley Rangers ARLFC, Sheffield Eagles, Huddersfield Giants, and Leigh Centurions, as a fullback, wing, or centre.

Ben Cooper played in 1999's Super League IV, 2000's Super League V, 2001's Super League VI, 2002's Super League VII, 2003's Super League VIII, 2004's Super League IX, and 2005's Super League X.

Ben Cooper is a British journalist, radio producer and former media executive, who was appointed as Controller of Radio 1 and 1Xtra on 28 October 2011, replacing Andy Parfitt who had stepped down from the position in July of that year.

Career

Cooper started his career at BBC Hereford & Worcester. He also worked as a journalist at Three Counties Radio before becoming a producer at Radio 1. After a brief sting at Capital Radio as an executive producer, Cooper returned to Radio 1 where he became Head of Mainstream, then later Head of Programmes between 2006 and 2009, where he brought Vernon Kay to the network. He was appointed the station's Deputy Controller in 2009 and oversaw a major restructuring of programming, which included introducing Fearne Cotton and Greg James as weekday presenters. He became Acting Controller in July 2011 following Andy Parfitt's decision to step down as Controller, and was appointed as Controller with immediate effect on 28 October 2011.
