Ben Brown (journalist)

Ben Brown (born 26 May 1960) is a journalist and news presenter for the BBC's rolling news channel BBC News. He has also presented the BBC News at Six and the BBC News at Ten and is currently an occasional presenter on the BBC Weekend News on BBC One. He also appears on the BBC News at Five, and BBC World News.

Early life

Born in Kent, the son of the ITN newscaster Antony Brown, Ben Brown was educated at the Sutton Valence School, an Independent school. During high school, Brown was on the debate team, and took second place in the national debating championships. He won an Open Scholarship to Keble College, Oxford, where he studied Philosophy, Politics and Economics, before graduating from the Cardiff School of Journalism, Media and Cultural Studies with a diploma with distinction. He joined Radio Clyde in Glasgow as a reporter, and later became a reporter for Radio City in Liverpool.

In 1986, Ben joined Independent Radio News, covering major stories from superpower summits to the Hungerford massacre. He joined BBC TV News two years later and was a Foreign Affairs Correspondent until 1991, reporting the fall of the Berlin Wall and the Persian Gulf war, from Saudi Arabia and Kuwait.

Ben Brown (footballer)

Ben Brown (born 20 November 1992) is an Australian rules footballer who plays for North Melbourne Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). Brown made his debut in Round 14, 2014 against Melbourne. Brown kicked a goal in his first game and impressed coach Brad Scott enough to keep his spot the following week. Brown went on to be an influential player in the North Melbourne team in the latter stages of the season with strong performances in the finals series.

Brown is the grandson of footballer and politician Jim Manson and nephew of former Collingwood player James Manson.

Ben Brown (cricketer)

Ben Christopher Brown (born 23 November 1988 in Crawley, West Sussex) is an English cricketer who currently plays for Sussex and is a member of the England under-19s. He is a wicket-keeper and right-handed batsman.

Brown was educated at Ardingly College. After appearing regularly for Sussex Second XI, after making his debut in May 2004, he was selected for England under-19s tour of Malaysia in 2006/07 and also featured during the 'Test' and 'ODI' series with Pakistan in 2007.

In July 2007 Brown made his first-class debut for Sussex against Sri Lanka A scoring 46 off 25 balls and made his List A debut against Nottinghamshire in September 2007.

In the 2015 season, Brown was one of only 2 Sussex players to score over 1,000 runs in the County Championship (the other being Luke Wright); Brown scored 1,031 Championship runs at an average of 44.82, with 4 centuries. In December 2015, Brown signed a new contract to stay at Sussex until 2018, and was announced as the county's vice-captain. Sussex head coach Mark Davis described him as a "natural leader".

Ben Brown (born January 25, 1978 in San Francisco, California, USA) is a co-founder of the social networking website Consumating. Raised in Derwood, MD he attended Colonel Zadok Magruder High School, he began attending the University of Maryland in 1996 but did not complete his degree in English and instead dropped out in 2000 in order to pursue personal interests.

Ben has been a co-founder of several zines including FlabJab, TEETH, and Über. His personal website http://benbrown.com/ has been in existence since 1997 and has at times served as an outlet for his creative works of fiction, as a personal blog, and also as a connecting reference for his software and literary publications.

In 2001 he co-founded an "ultra-micro-mini" publishing company with James Stegall named So New Media and used it to create and publish the literary magazine Words! Words! Words! as well as the public performance venue Bookpunk.

Internet

In 1999, Brown co-founded the Deepleap website which provided an extensible utility for searching and interacting with various websites, social bookmarking, and eventually user-generated XML feeds for creating custom web applications. The site shut down in late 2000 for financial reasons.
