Ripley's Believe It or Not!

Ripley's Believe It or Not! is an American franchise, founded by Robert Ripley, which deals in bizarre events and items so strange and unusual that readers might question the claims. The Believe It or Not panel proved popular and was later adapted into a wide variety of formats, including radio, television, comic books, a chain of museums and a book series.

The Ripley collection includes 20,000 photographs, 30,000 artifacts and more than 100,000 cartoon panels. With 80-plus attractions, the Orlando-based Ripley Entertainment, Inc., a division of the Jim Pattison Group, is a global company with an annual attendance of more than 12 million guests. Ripley Entertainment's publishing and broadcast divisions oversee numerous projects, including the syndicated TV series, the newspaper cartoon panel, books, posters and games.

Ripley first called his cartoon feature, originally involving sports feats, Champs and Chumps, and it premiered on December 19, 1918, in the New York Globe. Ripley began adding items unrelated to sports, and in October 1919, he changed the title to Believe It or Not. When the Globe folded in 1923, Ripley moved to the New York Evening Post. That same year, Ripley hired Norbert Pearlroth as his researcher, and Pearlroth spent the next 52 years of his life in the New York Public Library, working ten hours a day and six days a week in order to find unusual facts for Ripley.

Believe It or Not (album)

Believe it or Not is the title of the fourth and final album by the Christian trio Nutshell. This was the second album featuring Annie McCaig and Mo McCafferty. A Best of Nutshell compilation was released in 1981, featuring songs form all four of the group's albums.

The final song on the album, Thief in the Night, was later recorded by Cliff Richard. Paul Field went onto have a successful career as a sionger-songwriter, but particularly as a songwriter. Cliff Richard recorded a number of his songs, including The Millennium Prayer.

Annie McCaig and Mo McCafferty went on to have successful careers as backing vocalists.

Believe It or Not (song)

"Believe It or Not" is a song composed by Mike Post (music) and Stephen Geyer (lyrics) and sung by American singer Joey Scarbury. It serves as the theme song for the television series The Greatest American Hero. The track was later included on Scarbury's 1981 debut album America's Greatest Hero.

The theme song became a popular hit during the run of The Greatest American Hero. "Believe It or Not" debuted in the Top 40 of the Billboard Hot 100 on June 13, 1981, eventually peaking at number 2 during the weeks ending August 15–22, 1981, kept off the top spot by "Endless Love" by Diana Ross and Lionel Richie, and spending a total of 18 weeks in the Top 40. It also peaked at the number 1 position on the Record World Chart.

In popular culture

A parody of the song was used in a Seinfeld episode, "The Susie", as the outgoing message on George Costanza's answering machine when he's avoiding his girlfriend. Everyone is shown to be annoyed with it.

Alvin and the Chipmunks recorded a cover for their 1982 album The Chipmunks Go Hollywood.

Believe It

Believe It is the first album by The New Tony Williams Lifetime, released in 1975 on Columbia Records. The New Lifetime was a jazz fusion band formed by the drummer Tony Williams with Allan Holdsworth on guitar, Alan Pasqua on keyboards and Tony Newton on bass.

Allmusic awarded the album with 4 stars.

The compositions Fred, Proto Cosmos and Red Alert are also featured on the Allan Holdsworth DVD Live at Yoshi's, released in 2007. Holdsworth has often stated that his time with the drummer was the most influential formative stage of his career.

Believe It (horse)

Believe It (February 9, 1975 – June 5, 2002) was an American bred racehorse. His sire was In Reality and his dam was Breakfast Bell. He won 6 of his 17 starts. His biggest win was probably the 1978 Wood Memorial Stakes. He also won the 1977 Remsen Stakes, defeating Alydar by two lengths on a sloppy track, the only loss either Alydar or Affirmed suffered to a horse other than each other prior to the 1978 Kentucky Derby.

Early in 1978, the Washington Post declared Believe It to be one of the best three-year-olds in 1978, and his trainer, Woody Stephens said the colt was one of the best he had ever trained. "Believe It was a very nice colt last year and if I know anything at all it's that he has improved greatly this winter." However, he lost to Alydar in the Flamingo Stakes on March 4, finishing a disappointing fourth. He lost again to Alydar in the Florida Derby on April 1 by two lengths. He bounced back in the Wood Memorial April 22, defeating Darby Creek Road by 3 1/2 lengths and completing the 1 1/8 mile race in 1:49 4/5.

Believe It is a song by American hip hop recording artist Meek Mill, released on February 19, 2013 as the fourth single from his debut studio album Dreams and Nightmares (2012). It features rapper Rick Ross. The music video was released on March 25, 2013.

The music video was released on March 25, 2013 and was directed by Dre Films. Machine Gun Kelly makes a cameo appearance.
