Believe (Emerson Drive album)

Believe is the sixth studio album by Canadian country music group Emerson Drive. The album was released in Canada on May 5, 2009 via Midas/Valory/Open Road. The album's first single, "Belongs to You," reached the top forty on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart in the United States.

Critical reception

The album received mixed reviews from music critics. It received a three-and-a-half star rating from Todd Sterling of AllMusic, who said that the album was "slickly produced" and that it "sticks to the well-worn formula of the group's previous releases," but said that it had "every color of the musical rainbow." Sterling cited "Your Last" as a standout, calling it a "lump-in-the-throat masterpiece." Jim Malec of The 9513 gave it one star out of five, referring to the song's lyrics as largely cliché in nature and saying, "There is not a single song on Believe worth hearing. It is an entirely disposable album that is unoriginal, uninteresting and unnecessary." Malec also criticized the album's sound, saying that the mixing of instruments and Brad Mates' vocals did not seem cohesive.

Ocean Avenue (album)

Ocean Avenue is the fourth studio album by the American rock band Yellowcard. The album was the band's major-label debut and brought them to prominence. It was a commercial success in the United States, led by titular hit single "Ocean Avenue". The album received generally positive reviews from music critics and has been certified platinum in sales by the RIAA and gold by the CRIA. It was produced by Neal Avron, and released on July 22, 2003 through Capitol Records.

In 2013, the band released an acoustic version of the album, Ocean Avenue Acoustic, in honor of the album's tenth anniversary.

Commercial performance and promotion

Ocean Avenue sold 11,000 copies in its first week in the U.S., debuting at #23. It is Yellowcard's most successful album and has been certified Platinum for sales in excess of 1,000,000. It was released as an enhanced CD in some countries. The enhanced CD includes a video entitled "The Making of Ocean Avenue" and a previously unreleased video of the song "Powder" (from The Underdog EP). In 2005, the album was released as a Special Edition in Malaysia, with live videos and music videos. The album was re-released on limited edition vinyl in 2011.

Believe (Nami Tamaki song)

"Believe" is the debut single by Nami Tamaki, released April 23, 2003. Tamaki was chosen through a Sony Music audition as the vocalist for the song. This song was also used as the third opening theme for Kidou Senshi Gundam Seed.

Christine is a 2016 American biographical film directed by Antonio Campos and written by Craig Shilowich. It stars actress Rebecca Hall as 1970s news reporter Christine Chubbuck who committed suicide on live television.

The film premiered at the 2016 Sundance Film Festival.

Plot

The film takes place in the last days of Christine Chubbuck's life as she struggles against depression and eventually commits suicide on-air.

Christine is a 1958 film, based on the novel Liebelei by Arthur Schnitzler. The film was directed by Pierre Gaspard-Huit and the title character was played by Romy Schneider. The cast included Alain Delon as a young lieutenant.

Schnitzler's play had been filmed in 1933 by Max Ophüls as Liebelei, starring Romy Schneider's mother, Magda Schneider.

Synopsis

In 1906 Vienna, a young lieutenant (Alain Delon) has an affair with a married baroness but decides to put an end to it when he meets Christine (Romy Schneider), a musician's daughter. It ends tragically when the Colonel learns his wife had this affair.

Christine is a 1983 American horror film directed by John Carpenter and starring Keith Gordon, John Stockwell, Alexandra Paul and Harry Dean Stanton. The film also features supporting performances from Roberts Blossom and Kelly Preston. It was written by Bill Phillips and based on the novel of the same name by Stephen King, published in 1983. The story, set in 1978, follows a sentient and violent vintage Plymouth Fury named "Christine," and its effects on the car's teenaged owner.

Plot

In the beginning, a red/white 1958 Plymouth Fury is being built on the assembly line. While a worker begins to inspect the engine for any mistakes, the car surprisingly closes its hood on his hand, injuring him. After the injured man is taken away, and during closing time, another worker is killed in the Fury, supposedly from inhaling exhaust fumes in the car.

Twenty years later, Arnold Cunningham (Keith Gordon) is a nerdy teen with only one friend, Dennis Guilder (John Stockwell). Arnie's life begins to change when he buys the same used Fury coupe, now named "Christine," that is in need of extensive repairs amounting to a full restoration over Dennis' objections and against his advice. He gets into a fight at school with Buddy Repperton, an overaged for high school teenager, who draws down on Arnie with a switchblade and is expelled as a result. Arnie begins to restore Christine in defiance of his parents (who force him to park Christine at Darnell's Do-It-Yourself Garage). As he spends more of his time repairing her, he begins to change, shedding his glasses, dressing better, and developing a cocky arrogance at odds with his previous nerdiness.
