Adventures In Missions (Texas)

Adventures In Missions (AIM) is a Christian apprentice missions program for college-age young people. The program is a part of Sunset International Bible Institute (SIBI) in Lubbock, Texas. Those accepted into the program spend eight months in studying and training at SIBI before being sent to mission fields around the world for a period of 14 to 22 months.

History

In October 1973, sixteen young people came to Sunset International Bible Institute, which was called "Sunset School of Preaching" at the time, to be trained in Christian evangelism and mission work. These first students went as a team to Dublin, Ireland for their field service time.

Program

Adventures In Missions operates on a schedule in which one new class of students is accepted and begins training each year. Young people interested in joining the AIM program must apply in advance. Applications are normally accepted starting in January for the class that begins in August of each year.

Accepted students move to Lubbock in August, where they are given an orientation and begin classes at SIBI. In addition to classroom study, the eight months of training in Lubbock also includes mentoring by AIM staff, opportunities for practical application outside of the classroom, weekly experience serving among area congregations, and occasional class trips for recruiting, equipping, and mission evangelism.

Believe (Emerson Drive album)

Believe is the sixth studio album by Canadian country music group Emerson Drive. The album was released in Canada on May 5, 2009 via Midas/Valory/Open Road. The album's first single, "Belongs to You," reached the top forty on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart in the United States.

Critical reception

The album received mixed reviews from music critics. It received a three-and-a-half star rating from Todd Sterling of AllMusic, who said that the album was "slickly produced" and that it "sticks to the well-worn formula of the group's previous releases," but said that it had "every color of the musical rainbow." Sterling cited "Your Last" as a standout, calling it a "lump-in-the-throat masterpiece." Jim Malec of The 9513 gave it one star out of five, referring to the song's lyrics as largely cliché in nature and saying, "There is not a single song on Believe worth hearing. It is an entirely disposable album that is unoriginal, uninteresting and unnecessary." Malec also criticized the album's sound, saying that the mixing of instruments and Brad Mates' vocals did not seem cohesive.

Believe (Luna Sea song)

"Believe" is the debut single by Japanese rock band Luna Sea, released on February 24, 1993. It reached number 11 on the Oricon singles chart.

This single version of "Believe" is slightly different from the album's. Inoran is claustrophobic, this inspired him to compose the B-side "Claustrophobia". The title track was re-recorded for their 2000 compilation album Period -the Best Selection-. Luna Sea played "Believe" jointly with X Japan at the hide memorial summit on May 4, 2008.

Blue October (British band)

Blue October is an English synthpop/pop/dance band based in Essex, formed in 1996 by Glen Wisbey and Barney Miller.

Their first album Incoming was released in 1998, on the US record label, A Different Drum. Tragedy was to strike suddenly as Miller unexpectedly died soon afterwards. In 2001 a second album, Preaching Lies to the Righteous was released with Ross Carter replacing Miller as vocalist. A third album, One Day Silver, One Day Gold was released in 2005 as a third member, Chris Taubert, joined the band.

2008 saw the release of their fourth album from Walk Amongst the Living. Produced by Steve Travell, the album saw the band push their sound further with the introduction of live drums and heavier guitar sounds.

In 2010 Carter left the band, who have since recruited Chris Beecham as replacement. June 2010 saw the band start work on their, as yet, untitled fifth studio album.

In addition to the album releases, Blue October have appeared on a number of compilation albums, including the Microsoft Xbox game, Dance Dance Revolution Ultra Mix 4.
