OPAL (software)

The Open Physics Abstraction Layer (OPAL) is an open source realtime physics engine API similar to PAL. It is currently supported only by ODE, but can be extended to run off of other engines. OPAL is free software, released under both the LGPL and the BSD license. It was originally designed and written by Tyler Streeter, Andres Reinot, and Alan Fischer while working at Iowa State University's Virtual Reality Applications Center (VRAC).

OPAL is a high-level interface for low-level physics engines used in games, robotics simulations, and other 3D applications. Features a simple C++ API, intuitive objects (e.g. Solids, Joints, Motors, Sensors), and XML-based file storage for complex objects.

The latest version of OPAL is 0.4.0. On June 23, 2010, OPAL development officially ended.

A sting is a short sequence played by a drummer to punctuate a joke, especially an obvious or awful one. A sting is often used as accompaniment during cabaret- and circus-style shows. The sound of the sting is sometimes written ba dum tsh, ba-dum ching, and occasionally ba dum tis. In British English, boom boom is commonly used. An abbreviation used in chats is //* .

In the context of percussion, rimshot normally refers to a single stroke of the stick in which the rim and skin of a drum are both struck simultaneously by the same stick, creating an accent. A rimshot in this context is only a component of the sting, and does not appear at all in some stings.

Common stings may feature a short roll followed by a crash or splash cymbal and kick drum, a flam, or a rimshot. The advanced example at right uses a tom then kick, followed by a pause to put the final stroke offbeat, and a final stroke using both the snare and kick drums to support a one-handed cymbal choke, meaning all three are hit at once.

Sting (fixture)

In experimental fluid mechanics, a sting is a test fixture on which models are mounted for testing, e.g. in a wind tunnel. A sting is usually a long shaft attaching to the downstream end of the model so that it does not much disturb the flow over the model. The rear end of a sting usually has a conical fairing blending into the (wind tunnel) model support structure.

For minimum aerodynamic interference a sting should be as long as possible and have as small a diameter as possible, within the structural safety limits. Critical length of a sting (beyond which its influence on the flow around the model is small) is mostly dependent on Reynolds number. If the flow at the rear end of a model (model base) is laminar, the critical sting length can be as much as 12-15 base diameters. If the flow at model base is turbulent, critical sting length reduces to 3-5 model base diameters. Source also suggests a sting diameter of no more than about 30% of model base diameter. However, this may not be possible in wind tunnels with high dynamic pressures because large aerodynamic loads would cause unacceptably large deflections and/or stresses in the sting. Shorter stings of larger relative diameters must be used in such cases. A good rule-of-thumb is that, for acceptably low and test-conditions-independent aerodynamic interference in a high-Reynolds-number, high-dynamic-pressure wind tunnel, a sting should have a diameter "d" not larger than 30% to 50% of model base diameter "D" and should have a length "L" of at least three model base diameters, e.g. as specified for the AGARD-C calibration model), see figure.

She was introduced by Araya Intra - one of the famous fashion stylist in Thailand. Fashion shooting of JASPAL is her first job since she was 14,followed by a lot of fashion model job and some music videos shooting. She became a singer in 1999 after the Rak Mak Ken Pai music video. She later transitioned into acting in 2001 in her first drama Lued Hong(Thai: เลือดหงส์)

Bee, Piedmont

Bee (in Piemontese Bé) is a commune of 623 inhabitants in the Province of Verbano-Cusio-Ossola in the Italian region Piedmont. It is situated above the western shore of Lago Maggiore and is about 120 kilometres (75 mi) northeast of Turin and about 5 kilometres (3 mi) northeast of Verbania.

The commune extends over an area of about 3.3 square kilometres (1.3 sq mi) and includes two small frazione: Pian Nava lies above the principal settlement, while Albagnano is on the opposite side of the valley. There is also the residential village of Montelago.

Bee borders the following municipalities: Arizzano, Ghiffa, Premeno, Vignone.

Bee (ship)

The Bee was a ship that sank off the coast of Newcastle, Australia in 1806.

The Bee, an 11-ton sloop, was under the command of Thomas Bryant when it set sail from Sydney, Australia for the Hawkesbury River on 25 June 1806. On 28 June the ship ran into a storm that shifted the ballast, damaged the rigging and mast. All the food was washed overboard and the water barrell was smashed. On 29 June the storm abated and the Bee joined with another small ship, the Contest on the way to Newcastle. While the Contest managed to get into harbour, the Bee was becalmed just outside. A strong current took the ship southwards when the anchor dragged. Further squalls sprung up over the next couple of days and shredded what was left of the Bee's sails. The two men crewing the ship, Bryant and the ship's owner, Benjamin Crew, were exhausted, hungry and thirsty as the current then took them northward. On 12 July, Bryant killed the ship's cat and they drank its blood. On 16 July Bryant died. On 18 July, Crew was able to get the attention of a passing whaler, the Brothers which rescued Crew. The Bee was left to drift and was never seen again. Crew was landed in Sydney on 21 July 1806.
