Bedford-Birch Cove

Bedford-Birch Cove is a provincial electoral district in Nova Scotia, Canada, that elects one member of the Nova Scotia House of Assembly.

Its current Member of the Legislative Assembly is Kelly Regan.

The electoral district was formed in 2003, and consists mostly of the previous district of Bedford-Fall River and one third of Halifax Bedford Basin. It comprises most of Bedford - all of the community southeast of the Bicentennial Highway.

The district is notable for the electoral loss of Liberal leader Francis MacKenzie, in the 2006 election. MacKenzie attempted to win the seat in 2006 for the Nova Scotia Liberal Party. The party polled less than 24% across the province. He lost by more than 800 votes to Len Goucher.

With the electoral boundary changes announced on September 12, 2012, Bedford-Birch Cove will be renamed 'Bedford'. The area of Kearney Lake and Birch Cove move to 'Halifax-Clayton Park'.

Bedford (TDX station)

The Bedford TDX Station is a proposed regional rail station along the Transdominion Express in Bedford, Virginia. The station would connect Bedford to Roanoke and Lynchburg by passenger rail.

Indiana ⁱ/ɪndiˈænə/ is a U.S. state located in the midwestern and Great Lakes regions of North America. Indiana is the 38th largest by area and the 16th most populous of the 50 United States. Indiana (statue)

Indiana is a public artwork by Retta Matthews of Arlington, Indiana that was originally displayed in the Indiana State Building at the 1893 Chicago World's Fair. The sculpture is currently located on the fourth floor of the Indiana Statehouse in downtown Indianapolis, Indiana, USA.

Description

Standing approximately five feet ten inches, Indiana stands alone in an alcove on the fourth floor of the Statehouse. The surface of the sculpture is painted in a white, most likely lead-based, paint. However, other alternatives are possible, such as a lime water and vinegar mixture. Another possibility is that, like the buildings of the Columbian Exposition, the statue is covered with a thin layer of plaster, cement, and jute fibers, which create a light but relatively durable surface.

The sculpture stands upright looking toward her right. The hair is wrapped loosely into a bun at the nape of the neck. The figure is dressed in a toga that is banded at the waist and drapes behind the back. The skirt is gathered into her left hand where the figure holds a cluster morning glory flowers. The sandal-clad feet touch at the heels with her toes pointed out. Behind her right foot lies an ear of corn.
