Beatmania IIDX11: IIDXRED (with RED standing for "Revolutionary Energetic Diversification") is the 11th game in the beatmania IIDX series of music video games. It was released in arcades by Konami in 2004. The game features many new songs, some of which are unlocked over Konami's e-Amusement platform. As suggested by the title, IIDXRED's color scheme is red and black, and was one of the first versions to not use the word "style" to denote its version and have a legitimate theme (a pattern that would continue on later versions).
Core gameplay remains the same on IIDX RED. A new rating, a flashing 8 was added to the difficulty scale. The unused side of the screen during single player play is now used to house a score graph, containing a real-time comparison of the current player against the high scores.
IIDX RED was the first version of IIDX to require the network for unlocking songs. Unfortunately, this move is seen as an issue for importers of IIDX machines as e-Amusement is not available outside Japan. e-Amusement can also pull score for a player on a song onto the score graph over the network. Users with e-Amusement cards will also now receive notifications if they beat their personal best score. Using a special e-Amusement card shipped with the home version of Beatmania IIDX 8th Style unlocks 3 extra songs.
beatmania IIDX (ビートマニア ツーディーエックス Bītomania Tsūdiekkusu) is a series of rhythm video games, that was first introduced by Konami in Japan on February 26, 1999.IIDX has since spawned 23 arcade releases and 14 console releases on the Sony PlayStation 2. It is the sequel to the beatmania game series, and part of the Bemani line of music games. A PC release titled beatmania IIDX INFINITAS has been announced, and began alpha testing in September 2015.
In IIDX games, players recreate the musical score of songs available to them through the use of a DJ simulating controller. The player must coordinate their hands in order to hit the correct keyboard buttons, spin the turntable, or a combination of both in correspondence to color-coded notes that approach the judgement bar displayed on screen. Notes are divided on screen by columns which separate them accordingly to match the seven buttons and the turntable on the DJ simulating controller. As a result of hitting notes, different sounds are then produced throughout a songs duration. Correctly hitting notes will produce an accurate musical score, while incorrectly hitting notes will produce inaccuracies and mistakes in the music.
beatmania IIDX was the first version of the game. It included three play modes: 7-keys, 5-keys (where the keys numbered 6 and 7 were played automatically), and 4-keys (where the three black keys were played automatically).
