A claw is a curved, pointed appendage, found at the end of a toe or finger in most amniotes (mammals, reptiles, birds). However, the word "claw" is also often used in reference to an invertebrate. Somewhat similar fine hooked structures are found in arthropods such as beetles and spiders, at the end of the leg or tarsus for gripping a surface as the creature walks. Crabs', lobsters' and scorpions' pincers, or more formally, their "chelae", are sometimes called claws.
A true claw, (as opposed to a chela) is made of hard protein called keratin. Claws are used to catch and hold prey in carnivorous mammals such as cats and dogs, but may also be used for such purposes as digging, climbing trees, self-defense, and grooming, in those and other species.
Similar appendages that are flat and do not come to a sharp point are called nails instead. Claw-like projections that do not form at the end of digits, but spring from other parts of the foot are properly named spurs.
Claws of animals like tigers, lions, and bears were used in making items such as ornaments, pendants, and brooches.
A claw is a sharp growth at the end of a toe or finger.

The Claw is a fictional supervillain character who first appeared in Silver Streak Comics #1 (December, 1939), from Lev Gleason Publications.
Created by Jack Cole (who would later create Plastic Man), The Claw first appeared as a monstrous supervillain in Silver Streak without any regular hero to oppose him. After issue #2, he was temporarily set aside, and reappeared in #6; in #7 (January, 1941), Lev Gleason's Daredevil went up against him for the first time. The Claw was then moved from Silver Streak to Daredevil Comics, and there he stayed until issue #31 (July, 1945), when he was apparently killed off.
This wasn't quite the end of The Claw, however; he returned in Boy Comics #89 (May, 1953), in which he was rewritten as the leader of an invasion force from another planet and was opposed by a hero named Rocky X; their battle lasted three issues. After that, The Claw fell into the public domain.
In the mid-1980s, Roy Thomas used the Claw as the main antagonist for his limited series Alter Ego.
The beak, bill, or rostrum is an external anatomical structure of birds which is used for eating and for grooming, manipulating objects, killing prey, fighting, probing for food, courtship and feeding young. The terms beak and rostrum are also used to refer to a similar mouthpart in some Ornithischian dinosaurs, monotremes, cephalopods (see Cephalopod beak), cetaceans, billfishes, pufferfishes, turtles, Anuran tadpoles and sirens.
Although beaks vary significantly in size, shape, color and texture, they share a similar underlying structure. Two bony projections—the upper and lower mandibles—are covered with a thin keratinized layer of epidermis known as the rhamphotheca. In most species, two holes known as nares lead to the respiratory system.
Although the word 'beak' was, in the past, generally restricted to the sharpened bills of birds of prey, in modern ornithology, the terms 'beak' and 'bill' are generally considered to be synonymous.
Although beaks vary significantly in size and shape from species to species, their underlying structures have a similar pattern. All beaks are composed of two jaws, generally known as the upper mandible (or maxilla) and lower mandible (or mandible). The upper, and in some cases the lower, mandibles are strengthened internally by a complex three-dimensional network of bony spicules (or trabeculae) seated in soft connective tissue and surrounded by the hard outer layers of the beak. The avian jaw apparatus is made up of two units; one four-bar linkage mechanism and one five-bar linkage mechanism.
The beak is part of the shell of a bivalve mollusk, i.e. part of the shell of a saltwater or freshwater clam. The beak is the basal projection of the oldest part of the valve of the adult animal. The beak usually, but not always, coincides with the umbo, the highest and most prominent point on the valve. Because by definition, all bivalves have two valves, the shell of a bivalve has two umbones, and two beaks.
In many species of bivalves the beaks point towards one another. However, in some species of bivalves the beaks point posteriorly, in which case they are referred to as opisthogyrate; in others the beaks point forward, and are described as being prosogyrate.
If the beak is not eroded or worn down at all, it may still be capped with the prodissoconch, which is the larval shell of the animal.
Barnell Bohusk, currently known as Blackwing, formerly known as Beak, is a fictional character, a superhero appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. The character is usually depicted as being associated with the X-Men and its spinoff the Exiles. Beak first appeared in New X-Men #117 and was created by Grant Morrison and Ethan Van Sciver.
Born in Rotterdam, Netherlands, Beak started developing his powers at puberty. His body changed into that of a humanoid-bird form, with a beaked face, bulbous eyes, wing-like arms that give him the ability to fly (albeit clumsily), talons on his hands and feet, and double-jointed knees. He also possesses heightened agility, and he may possess heightened senses and a lighter skeletal structure like the avian X-Man formerly known as the Angel. Feeling disgusted and ashamed because of his appearance, Beak ran away from home and went into hiding. He tells Beast that his nickname originated from other teenagers in Rotterdam, who would find him hiding behind beer barrels.
Every night
Caught up on the same old dream
I hear your broken heart
Crumbling down and haunting me
And everyday
Try to tell myself it ain't so hard
But then I hear your name
And it feels like a grip around my heart
'till I change the way you feel
'till I change the world
So help me girl
I'll show you wounds can heal
Chorus
* tell 'ya what I'm gonna do
I'll be comin' back for you
I'll move the mountains
Part the sea
Anything for you
I'll be back 'n blue
Back 'n blue
Forget that girl
She could never take your place
It's hard enough
When you look at me that way
I know I was caught red-handed
I wouldn't blame you if you twist the knife
I swear I've come to my senses
Tell me what to do
Anyday I'll make it right
I've got to change the way you feel
If I have to I'll change the world
So help me girl
I'll beg borrow and steal
If that's what it takes
* repeat
Back 'n blue
Back 'n blue
Back 'n blue
Back 'n blue
At 't-till make you believe me
I'm prepared to make any sacrifice
The shadow of our love keeps gettin' bigger
Without your love I'll sure die
Chorus
Tell you what I'm gonna do
I keep comin' back for you
I'll move the mountains
Part the sea
Anything for you
I'll be back 'n blue back 'n blue
Back 'n blue
So help me girl
Beg borrow and steal
If that's what it takes
I'll be back 'n blue back 'n blue
I'm prepared to make any sacrifice
Back 'n blue
Back 'n blue
