Bayanobo Mining District, (Mongolian: ᠪᠠᠶᠠᠨ ᠣᠪᠣᠭ᠋ᠠ ᠠᠭᠤᠷᠬᠠᠢ ᠶᠢᠨ ᠲᠣᠭᠣᠷᠢᠭ Bayan Oboɣ-a Aɣurqai-yin toɣoriɣ (Mongolian: "rich" + ovoo); simplified Chinese: 白云鄂博矿区; traditional Chinese: 白雲鄂博礦區; pinyin: Báiyúnèbó Kuàng Qū), or Baiyun-Obo or Baiyun'ebo, is a mining town in the west of Inner Mongolia, People's Republic of China. It is under the administration of Baotou City, more than 120 kilometres (75 mi) to the south.
The mines north of the town are the largest deposits of rare earth metals yet found and, as of 2005, responsible for 45% of global rare earth metal production.
In the satellite image at right, vegetation appears red, grassland is light brown, rocks are black, and water surfaces are green. Two circular open-pit mines are visible, as well as a number of tailings ponds and tailings piles.
China produced about 81,000 tons of rare earth metals in 2001; the number jumped to about 120,000 by 2006. According to the Chinese Society of Rare Earths, 9,600 to 12,000 cubic meters (340,000 to 420,000 cubic feet) of waste gas—containing dust concentrate, hydrofluoric acid, sulfur dioxide, and sulfuric acid—are released with every ton of rare metals that are mined. Approximately 75 cubic meters (2,600 cubic feet) of acidic wastewater, plus about a ton of radioactive waste residue are also produced.
Obo
Obo is the capital of Haut-Mbomou, one of the 14 prefectures of the Central African Republic. According to data used within Google Earth, the population is 12,787. It is close to the African Pole of Inaccessibility. In Obo, there is an abandoned mission school where the founder Donald E. Linquist is buried.

Oboý
Oboý, (Russian: Обой), is a small settlement in Bereket District, Balkan Province in western Turkmenistan.
Overview
The settlement is located 35 km (22 mi) south-west of Bereket, the capital of Bereket District. Oboy is located near Kyurendag Ridge which is the most western foothills of the Kopetdag Mountains. The heightest point of Kyurendag ridge is 968 m (3,176 ft).
The climate in the village is largely affected by Karakum Desert.
Oboý Railway Station
Bereket Railway Station (Oboý demirýol menzili) is the small railway station located 2 km from Oboy settlement. It was built in 2014. The station is operated by the Türkmendemirýollary. Oboý Station is one of the railways stations located on the North-South Transnational Railway (Russia - Kazakhstan - Turkmenistan - Iran - Persian Gulf.
