In biology, the imago is the last stage an insect attains during its metamorphosis, its process of growth and development; it also is called the imaginal stage, the stage in which the insect attains maturity. It follows the final ecdysis of the immature instars.
In a member of the Ametabola or Hemimetabola, in which metamorphosis is "incomplete", the final ecdysis follows the last immature or nymphal stage. In members of the Holometabola, in which there is a pupal stage, the final ecdysis follows emergence from the pupa, after which the metamorphosis is complete, although there is a prolonged period of maturation in some species.
The imago is the only stage during which the insect is sexually mature and, if it is a winged species, has functional wings. The imago often is referred to as the adult stage.
Members of the order Ephemeroptera (mayflies) do not have a pupal stage, but they briefly pass through an extra winged stage called the subimago. Insects at this stage have functional wings but are not yet sexually mature.

Imago is the second full-length album by the Brisbane band The Butterfly Effect. It was released on 17 June 2006. It debuted on the Australian ARIA album charts at number 2, the Butterfly Effect's first top 10 album and their highest charting album.
The track "Phoenix", which was released to Australian radio in 2005 prior to the album's release, did not make the cut for Imago, but was released as a b-side on the "A Slow Descent" single.
The sound of "Imago" is much more progressive than the previous album and is less heavy as well. The album shows the band have all but lost their earlier nu-metal influences which has made them more popular. Clint Boge's vocals are also much more refined and as a result, his range is higher and more diverse than the previous releases.
The opener "Imago" is an instrumental track.
The first single from Imago, titled "A Slow Descent", was released on 10 June 2006. It debuted at number 18 on the Australian Singles Chart, and in its second week rose to number 9, giving the Butterfly Effect their first top 10 single. The release was celebrated by hosting a signing at Skinny's Records in the band's hometown of Brisbane on the release date of the new album. Imago debuted at No.2 on the ARIA album charts, only narrowly beaten by local alternative rock group Eskimo Joe. After only nine weeks of release, it was certified gold for sales in excess of 35,000 copies.

Oooh
Oohoo
(I close my eyes)
This is the sound
(I voice my fears)
This is the sound of breaking up
(I close my heart)
This is the sound
(So open your ears)
This is the sound of breaking up
Just came to say I'm leaving
Cuz you were never gonna get that much deeper
I didn't wanna stop believin
I wanna be your lover not your keeper
But I-ooah-I
I really loved you so
But you can't step back
See if it fades to black
And here's what you need to know
CHORUS A (X2)
(I close my eyes)
I see what you have done
(I voice my fears)
That I'm not the only one
(I close my heart)
Cuz once broken is enough
(So open your ears)
This is the sound of breaking up
Turn off my phone stop calling
I didn't say that this was gonna be easy
When you got nothing, it's tempting to fall right back
And I know that you know how to please me
But I-ooah-I
I really loved you so
But you can't step back
See if it fades to black
And here's what you need to know
CHORUS A (X2)
CHORUS B (X2)
(I close my eyes)
Just take your things and go
(I voice my fears)
I'm tired of makin up
(I close my heart)
Just leave your key and go
(So open your ears)
