Bathurst was a provincial electoral district for the Legislative Assembly of New Brunswick, Canada.
It was created in the 1967 redistribution when cities were separated from their counties and made independent districts. It was not changed in either the 1973 or 1994 redistributions but in 2006 it lost some territory to the neighbouring riding of Nepisiguit. It has been a traditional Liberal seat in the province; however, in the last two elections, it has been one of the most marginal seats in New Brunswick.
In its current form, it consists of the city of Bathurst except for the part south of Route 11 and east of the Nepisiguit River. It is bordered on the northeast by the riding of Nigadoo-Chaleur, on north by Chaleur Bay, and elsewhere by the riding of Nepisiguit.
This riding has elected the following Members of Legislative Assembly:
Bathurst is a subway station on the Bloor–Danforth line in Toronto, Canada. The station, which opened in 1966, is located on Bathurst Street just north of Bloor Street West. It is a major transfer point for both bus and streetcar routes, including the 511 Bathurst route, which provides services to Exhibition Place, Ontario Place, and the Canadian National Exhibition.
The ticket collector and turnstiles are in the station building at the surface, which puts streetcar and bus platforms within the fare paid zone. The opening of the elevators in January 2000 made the station fully accessible. Elevators provide access between the eastbound platform and concourse, and between the westbound platform and street level via the concourse. There are also regular stairway and escalator connections between all levels.
The station serves The Annex and Koreatown neighbourhoods. Nearby destinations include the landmark discount store Honest Ed's, St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church, Bathurst Street Theatre, The Bloor Hot Docs Cinema, Lee's Palace, Central Technical School and Harbord Collegiate Institute
The 2006 Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000 was an endurance race for V8 Supercars, held on 8 October 2006 at the Mount Panorama Circuit just outside Bathurst in New South Wales, Australia. It was Round 9 of the 2006 V8 Supercar Championship Series.
The event was the tenth running of the Australia 1000 race, first held after the organisational split over the Bathurst 1000 that occurred in 1997. It was also the 50th race in a sequence of endurance events beginning with the 1960 Armstrong 500 held at Phillip Island.
The race winners were awarded the Peter Brock Trophy, commemorating the recent death of nine time Bathurst winner, Peter Brock. Perhaps fittingly the race was won by Brock's protégé, Craig Lowndes and his Team Betta Electrical co-driver Jamie Whincup. It was Whincup's first "Bathurst 1000" win following on from his second place in the 2005 Supercheap Auto 1000. Whincup became the 51st drive to win in the combined history of the race. It was Lowndes second win, achieved ten years after his 1996 AMP Bathurst 1000 win. It was also the first "1000" win for Triple Eight Race Engineering which first contested the event in 1997.
