¡Basta Ya!

¡Basta Ya! (English: Enough is Enough!) is a Spanish grassroots organization uniting individuals of various political positions against terrorism, notably ETA, and against the proposal for a new Statute of Autonomy of the Basque Country released by the government of President Juan José Ibarretxe. Its principal activities are anti-terror demonstrations and protests. The ¡Basta Ya! movement is a civic initiative made up of people of differing ideologies, and welcomes any citizens willing to play an active part provided they adhere to three basic principles: defend against terrorism of any sort, regardless of origin or intensity, support all victims of terrorism or of political violence and defend the rule of law, the Constitution and the Statute of Autonomy of the Basque Country. Enough is Enough! was created to promote social mobilization against the perpetrators of specific outrages, to support those who are suffering these outrages, and to demand of all the authorities that they fulfill the requirements of current legislation, respecting the rule of law. The organization believes that criticism of terrorism on moral grounds is important but not enough. Criticism on political grounds is also very important, and the initiative understands such criticism to be based on certain values – such as human rights - which are common to all democrats regardless of their party affiliations or their political leanings.

¡Basta Ya! (song)

"¡Basta Ya!" ("Enough already!") is a song written by Mexican singer-songwriter Marco Antonio Solís. The song was first performed by Puerto Rican singer, Olga Tañón, on her first Latin pop crossover album, Nuevos Senderos in 1996. Released as the lead single, the song became first number-one hit for Tañón on the Hot Latin Tracks chart. At the 9th Lo Nuestro Awards received a nomination for Pop Song of the Year.

Conjunto Primavera version

"¡Basta Ya!" was released as the first single from Mexican norteño band Conjunto Primavera's 2007 studio album El Amor Que Nunca Fue. The single reached number-one, making it the second time in the history of Hot Latin Tracks that a song has reached number-one by two different artists. The two musicians had also made a duet on the Mexican version of "Desilusioname".

Jenni Rivera version

In 2011, Mexican-American singer Jenni Rivera covered "¡Basta Ya!" on her twelfth studio album Joyas Prestadas. She recorded the song in Latin pop and banda for both the pop and banda versions of Joyas Prestadas. Both versions of "¡Basta Ya!" were released as the lead single from the album on August 29, 2011. In the United States, the song peaked at number fourteen on the Billboard Hot Latin Songs chart and number six on the Billboard Regional Mexican Songs chart. In Mexico, the song reached number one the Monitor Latino charts and number three on the Billboard Mexican Airplay chart. A music video was released for the pop version of the song which was directed by Ricardo Moreno and filmed in Los Angeles, California.
