Bardu Ali (September 23, 1906 – October 29, 1981) was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, USA. He was an American jazz and rhythm and blues singer and guitarist, and a musical promoter.
He became master of ceremonies of the bands in which he worked early in his career – Napoleon Zyas's, Leroy Tibbs', and Chick Webb's. He is credited with persuading Webb to hire Ella Fitzgerald. After a period leading his own band and touring England with Lew Leslie's hit show, Blackbirds of 1928, he returned to the Webb band, taking it over after Webb died. In 1940 he moved to California, where he became Johnny Otis's business partner, performing in Otis's band and opening the famous Barrelhouse Club with him. He played an important role in the early career of Charles Brown and was Redd Foxx's business manager.
Although it is widely reported that Bardu Ali was born September 23, 1910, he was born in 1906, and in Mississippi. His older brothers and sister were born in New Orleans, to Ella Blackman, and Moksad Ali. Ella was a New Orleans native, and Ali was an immigrant from Hooghly, in the Indian state of Bengal. There were several children born to this union, and while two of the older sons moved to Galveston, TX, Ella moved to the Bronx, NY with her remaining children, and her sister Fanny. It was in NYC where Bardu (originally spelled Bahadur) fell in love with acting and music. He got involved with the Black cinema in the late 1920s and 30s, eventually winding up as the front man for Chick Webb. When Webb died, Bardu eventually formed his own band, and made his way to Los Angeles with his wife Tila. He and his band were the master of ceremonies at the Lincoln theater on Central Avenue. Although Bardu and his wife Tila did not have any children together, he did have a child from another union.
Ali (Arabic: علي, ʿAlī) is a male Arabic name derived from the Arabic root ʕ-l-w, which literally means "high" or "elevated". It is a common name in Arab countries and the rest of the Muslim world. Islamic traditional use of the name goes back to the Islamic leader Ali ibn Abi Talib but the name is identical in form and meaning to the Hebrew: עֵלִי , Eli, which goes back to the High Priest Eli in the biblical Books of Samuel.
The name Ali also arises in other traditions. Among English-speakers as short for male and female names starting with "Al-", or the Old Norse man's name Áli. It can also be an English nickname, as a shortened form of Alexandra, Alison, Alice, Alistair, or Alexander.
Ali is also a Finnish male given name, derived from Aleksanteri.
Cho Yong-Jin (Korean: 조용진), famously known as Ali (stylized as ALi), is a South Korean singer-songwriter famous for her work on Korean pop music in the early twenty-first century. Her stage name is a motif from Muhammad Ali. This is so that it can be engraved easily by the masses. Following her debut in 2009, she is primarily known for her strong vocals and her time as a contestant on the KBS program Immortal Songs 2.
Following her debut in 2009, she had already gained fame for her appearances on music shows, most notably Immortal Songs 2 on KBS2. She also worked as a professor in applied musical arts at the Seoul Technical Arts College.
ALi released her first album SOULri in December 2011 which was strangely two years after her official debut. One released track, "Na Young", garnered immediate controversy as its lyrics referenced a case of sexual assault that had been a very public case in South Korea, with many detractors criticizing the song to be insensitive to its subject. ALi would later address this controversy by revealing that she herself was a survivor of sexual assault.

[Intro:]
No no no no
No no no
What they told me
[Chorus:]
People use to tell me this could neva happen now I just smile and grin
This is what they told me
I told it would happen when I was much older nobody believe me then
Now they hear me on the radio
And they can't hate no mo
See me on the t.v. shows
Even the videos
I told it would happen
And this is what they told me
[Verse 1:]
I knew life would get better if I just stick to my dream
When or when but it gets hard some times
So much temptation we livin life on the line
I don't even think people know what I been through
Contracts and contacts can stress you
But strong faith
But keep it movin on
Keep it pressen on
Until the lord takes me home
[Chorus:]
People use to tell me this could neva happen now I just smile and grin
This is what they told me
I told it would happen when I was much older nobody believe me then
Now they hear me on the radio
And they can't hate no mo
See me on the t.v. shows
Even the videos
I told it would happen
And this is what they told me
[Verse 2:]
This force is such a struggle cause I have been around
Those who don't love me seem like they jealous of
The talent that I got from the heavens above
Why don't you say what you say when say what said to me
If you don't like what I doin
If you don't like what I'm doin then dirty just let me be
Look I walk strickly by faith and dirty not by sight
Cause every thang that look good ain't always right
I learn from experiance to me it's so serious
Even though I'm curious
No more hard times
The world is bout to be mine
Nobody taken my shine
Forget bout what you told me
[Chorus: x4]
People use to tell me this could neva happen now I just smile and grin
This is what they told me
I told it would happen when I was much older nobody believe me then
Now they hear me on the radio
And they can't hate no mo
See me on the t.v. shows
Even the videos
I told it would happen
