Bangaram Atoll

Bangaram (Malayalam: ബങ്കാരം) is an atoll in the Union Territory of Lakshadweep, India.

Geography

The atoll has a roughly rectangular shape and is 8.1 km in length with a maximum width of 4.2 km. It is located over 400 km (250 mi) off Kochi & 525 km (326 mi) from Kollam Port in the Indian Ocean.

Bangaram atoll is about 7 km (4.3 mi) northeast of the island of Agatti and 25 km (16 mi) to the southeast of Perumal Par, in the western Lakshadweep archipelago at 10°56′N 72°17′E / 10.933°N 72.283°E / 10.933; 72.283. Bangaram atoll is connected to the reef of Agatti through a shallow submarine ridge.

Bangaram island, the main island in the atoll, has no residences but hosts a resort. 61 resort staff were registered as residents of the island in the 1991 census.

Islands

Bangaram Island, the largest island in the atoll, with a land surface of 2.3 km². There is a long brackish pond in the center of the island fringed by screwpine and coconut palms. Bangaram Island Resort is located on this island which was formerly uninhabited.

Bangaram (film)

Bangaram (Telugu: బంగారం English: Gold) is a Telugu film which released on 3 May 2006 and was directed by Tamil director Dharani. This film has Pawan Kalyan in the lead role and Meera Chopra, Raja Abel, Reema Sen, Ashutosh Rana, Mukesh Rishi, and playing the supporting roles.The movie didn't do well at the box office.

Plot

Bangaram(pavan kalyan) is a reporter at a news channel. He dreams of getting into an international news channel of BBC. To fulfill his own dream he ends up at Peddi Reddy (Mukesh Rishi) who is a factionist. He needs Peddi's signature to get his dream fulfilled but in the meanwhile he gets entangled with Peddi"s daughter Sandhya(Meera chopra)and Vindhya(Sanusha). Later Bhooma Reddy(Ashutosh Rana) wins over Peddi's heart and is able to convince him to marry Sandhya to him. But Sandhya has already got her own love story with Vinay(Raja).

Bangaram feeling guilty about foiling Sandhya's escape plan and the mean looks from Vindhya, he finally decides to help her by taking her to the city. But then the villains are not too far behind. Later Vinay also loses contact with them because of the confusion caused by a bomb blast. Then Bangaram is able to find Vinay with the help of a driver(Raghu babu) and his company. but just then Bhooma kidnaps Vindhya(who just turns 18) and blackmails Bangaram that he will marry her if Sandhya is not returned. But he later goes to Bhoooma and is able to save Vindhya and kill Bhooma Reddy which forms the climax.
