Apoptygma Berzerk /ɑːpɒpˈtᵻɡmɑːbərzərk/ (commonly abbreviated to APB or APOP) is a Norwegian musical group. They have achieved success with a brand of synthpop, and ballads backed with electronic rhythms, commonly known within the scene and referring to themselves as "futurepop". Apoptygma Berzerk has over 30 releases and won awards and Top 10 spots in Germany and Scandinavia. Apoptygma Berzerk has toured Europe, North America, South America, Israel and Australia with bands such as VNV Nation, Beborn Beton, Icon of Coil and Unheilig.
The band was formed by Stephan Groth and Jon Erik Martinsen in 1989. Together they wrote several songs, one of them "Ashes To Ashes" would later be released as a 12-inch single on the Norwegian label Tatra Productions in 1991. Jon Erik left the band shortly afterwards feeling uncomfortable with the direction of the band's music.
The name "Apoptygma Berzerk" either has a secret meaning or does not mean anything. Frontman and founding member Stephan Groth claims that it was randomly picked out of a dictionary (apoptygma being derived from the Ancient Greek word ἀπόπτυγμα meaning "piece of a tunic"). The first word of the name is pronounced a-pop-tig-ma. (Apoptosis is a similar sounding biological term for programmed cell death; stigmata are crucifixion-like marks on skin.).
Back on Track may refer to:
Back On Track is an album by country singer Billy "Crash" Craddock. It was released in 1989 on Atlantic Records.
Back on Track is the eleventh studio album by Humble Pie recorded after Jerry Shirley re-formed Humble Pie in 2001 with a line-up including their original bassist Greg Ridley, guitarist and vocalist Bobby Tench and the new addition of rhythm guitarist Dave "Bucket" Colwell, who wrote or co-wrote seven of the ten tracks on this album. Back on Track was released by Sanctuary in UK and Europe on 19 February 2002. Keyboard players Zoot Money and Victor Martin were brought in for the Back on Track recording sessions. The album was recorded at Jacobs Studios and Astoria Studios and the CD cover cites special thanks to David Gilmour.
The album and band line up had many of the elements which had contributed to Humble Pie's musical chemistry, with two of the original sidemen to Steve Marriott, Shirley and Ridley re-united with well respected former band member Tench. The promotional Back on Track tour of UK and then Germany with Company of Snakes followed and the response to the live shows was encouraging, but Greg Ridley fell ill late in 2002 and the band split up. Back on Track was another example of a Humble Pie album whose sales were limited by the curtailment of tour schedules due to illness.
You're the proud crowd waiting forthe guinea pigs to die somewhere tonight.
You can't find the time to celebrate andyou have no goodbyes to give away.
You are always telling lies, you never show me what you feel inside.
You're boring, you're a waste of time. Please leave me and I leave you all behind.
We decide what's wrong and right. We rather loose than fight.
We're going down. And down.
Without us you can not exist.Without us you don't get no kicks,
