Baby It's Me is a 1977 album released by American singer Diana Ross on the Motown label that peaked at #18 on the Billboard Top 200 and #7 on the R&B album chart. The album was produced by producer Richard Perry. The LP yielded one Top 40 hit, "Gettin' Ready for Love", reaching number 27 on the US Billboard Hot 100. Other charting singles released from the album include "You Got It" and "Your Love is so Good for Me," the latter receiving a Grammy nomination.
Adult Contemporary drove the success of this album, with both "Gettin' Ready for Love" (#8) and "You Got It" (#9) being Top 10 hits, while the newly formed Billboard Dance charts ranked "Your Love is so Good For Me" Top 15. Although this album never made the UK charts it was certified Silver for UK sales in excess of 60,000 copies.
Ross would continue to work with Perry including on her pairing with international vocalist, Julio Iglesias on their duet, "All of You" several years later.
In grammar, a subject complement (also called a predicative complement) is a predicative expression that follows a linking verb (copula) and that complements the subject of the sentence by either (1) renaming it or (2) describing it. In the former case, a renaming noun phrase such as a noun or pronoun is called a predicative nominal. An adjective following the copula and describing the subject is called a predicative adjective. In either case the predicative complement in effect mirrors the subject. Subject complements are used with a small class of verbs called linking verbs or copulas, of which be is the most common. Since copulas are stative verbs, subject complements are not affected by any action of the verb. Subject complements are typically not clause arguments, nor are they clause adjuncts.
The subject complement is bold in the following examples:
Here, was is a linking verb (an inflected form of be) that equates the predicate nominative phrase a tranquil pool, with the head noun, pool, to the subject, the lake (with head noun lake).
"It's Me" is a popular 1994 single by rock singer Alice Cooper from his 1994 concept album The Last Temptation. The song still had good chart success, reaching #34 in the United Kingdom. The song is the last time one of Cooper's songs charted until 2000's "Gimme". The song was written by Alice Cooper, Jack Blades and Tommy Shaw. Along with the other single from the album, Lost in America, it helped make The Last Temptation become his most recent, highest-charting album until 2008's Along Came a Spider.
A music video was made for the song but received virtually no airplay.
Who's gonna call you up every single day?
Who's gonna hold you high when stuff gets ugly?
Cause baby if you wanna find someone
As big as a door that fits in your palm
A wall of support as small as a gun
Can't you see?
Baby it's me
Who's gonna miss you just cause you leave the room?
Who's gonna kiss your brow when your dreaming haunts you?
Cause baby if you wanna find someone
With all that they need but nothing they want
Full of themselves but with a hole where you aren't
Can't you see?
Baby it's me
Baby it's me
Living in the lining
Where your coins are chiming
When we drive at night it's my eyes you're shining
Who's gonna call you up every single day?
