Los Bravos were a Spanish beat group, formed in 1965 and based in Madrid. Their single "Black Is Black" reached no. 2 in the United Kingdom in July 1966 and no. 4 in the United States (the first Spanish group to do so), selling over a million records.
The band was an amalgamation of two pop groups, Los Sonor from Madrid and The Runaways from Mallorca. Los Bravos' lead singer, Mike Kogel, was from Germany. His vocal styling was sometimes likened to Gene Pitney's. "Black is Black" reached no. 2 in the UK Singles Chart in July 1966, no. 4 in the US Billboard Hot 100 chart, and sold over one million copies worldwide. The track was written by Tony Hayes and Steve Wadey, in their recording studio for cutting demo discs in Hoo St Werburgh, near Rochester, Kent, England. The song was later covered by Johnny Hallyday and the French-based outfit Belle Epoque, and in 1977 their disco version of the song coincidentally also reached No. 2 in the UK.
Los Bravos' follow-up single, "I Don't Care", reached no. 16 in the UK in October 1966. In 1967, the band participated in the San Remo Music Festival, failing to qualify for the final with the song "Uno come noi" in Italian. The band were the subjects of two Spanish comedic movies: in 1967 Los chicos con las chicas (The Boys With the Girls), directed by Javier Aguirre and in 1968, ¡Dame un poco de amooor...! (Give Me a Little Looove!), directed by José María Forqué and Francisco Macián. Their song "Going Nowhere" from the soundtrack to Los chicos con las chicas was re-issued as a part of the Rhino Records series, Nuggets II: Original Artyfacts from the British Empire and Beyond, 1964–1969.
Baby, Baby may refer to:
"Baby, Baby" was the Belgian entry in the Eurovision Song Contest 1973, performed in Dutch (with some lines in English, Spanish and French) by Nicole & Hugo.
In 1971, Nicole & Hugo had entered into the national final for the Eurovision Song Contest and won the final with "Goeiemorgen, morgen". Prior to their departure to Dublin for the contest, Nicole fell ill and the duo were unable to attend. They were replaced in their absence by Jacques Raymond and Lily Castel, but returned to the Contest with "Baby, Baby" in 1973.
The song was performed second on the night, following Finland's Marion Rung with "Tom Tom Tom" and preceding Portugal's Fernando Tordo with "Tourada". At the close of voting, it had received 58 points, placing 17th (last) in a field of 17. The backing singers include Belgium's 1968 Eurovision representative, Claude Lombard.
The song itself is a rather straightforward love duet, with the duo pledging their love to each other in a variety of languages (and making the somewhat unusual comment that "the divorce doesn't hurt at all"), however it has achieved something of a cult status among Contest fans.
"Baby, Baby (I Know You're a Lady)" is a song made famous by country music singer David Houston.
Originally released in 1969, the song represented a first and a last. The last was that it was Houston's seventh (and final) No. 1 hit on the Billboard magazine Hot Country Singles chart; the song spent four weeks atop the chart.
The song was also the first time up-and-coming Nashville songwriter Norro Wilson had one of his compositions hit number one; it was a shared credit with co-writer Alex Harvey. During the next four decades, Wilson would become one of country music's most prolific songwriters and producers. He wrote hits for singers including Charley Pride, Charlie Rich, Jean Shepard, Tammy Wynette and others; his production credits would include songs by Pride, Joe Stampley, Wynette, Kenny Chesney, Sara Evans, Janie Fricke, Reba McEntire and others.
If I never do another thing today
Gonna teach myself to lie
If I never do another thing today
Gonna try to learn to cry
I've got to live my life my way
In everything today
Got no time to waste
My hope slips with haste
Watchin' everybody
Going nowhere
All the little people with their little minds
Gonna say that I am crazy
All the little people with their little minds
Gonna say this boy is mad
Mmm, why should I plan for the, future
When the future made plans for me
Got no time to waste
My hope slips with haste
Watchin' everybody
Going nowhere
This world will not be
Happy until they
See everybody
Going nowhere
Oh
Oh yeah.
Mmm, I've got to live my life my way
In everything today
This world will not be
Happy until they
See everybody
Going nowhere
Got so much to do
I can't wait for you
This world is ruined
Going nowhere
Going nowhere
Going nowhere
Going nowhere
Going nowhere
Going nowhere
Going nowhere
