BMW International Open

The BMW International Open is an annual men's professional golf tournament on the European Tour held in Germany. Founded in 1989, it was held in and around BMW's home city of Munich until 2012 when it moved to Cologne. From 1997 to 2011, 2013, and 2015 it was played at the Golfclub München Eichenried. In 2012 and 2014, the event moved to Golf Club Gut Lärchenhof.

The event is the only Tour event played in Germany. In 2013 the prize fund was €2 million, which is mid-range for a European Tour event.

1996 International Open

The 1996 Sweater Shop International Open was a professional ranking snooker tournament that took place between 17–24 February 1996 at the Link Centre in Swindon, England.

John Higgins defended his title by defeating Rod Lawler 9–3 in the final. This was the first time that Lawler reached the final of a ranking event.

Scottish Open (snooker)

The Scottish Open is a ranking professional snooker tournament held in Scotland. The tournament had many name changes in its history, as the tournament was formerly called International Open, Goya Matchroom Trophy and Players Championship. Apart from a hiatus in the 1990/1991 and 1991/1992 seasons, the tournament remained a ranking event until 2003/2004. In the 2012/2013 season the tournament was added back to the calendar as part of the Players Tour Championship minor-ranking series. The last champion was Ding Junhui.

On April 29th, 2015, Barry Hearn announced it would return to the main tour in 2016 at an unspecified Glasgow venue, as part of a new "Home Series" with the existing Welsh Open and new English Open and Irish Open tournaments.

History

The tournament began in 1981 as the International Open at the Assembly Rooms in Derby, and became the following year the second ranking event after the World Championship. The event moved to the Eldon Square in Newcastle upon Tyne. Until 1984 the event was sponsored by Jameson Whiskey.
