Bii (singer)

Bii (born July 7, 1989) is a Chinese-language singer from South Korea, active in Taiwan.

Early life

Bii was born and raised in South Korea. His father is Taiwanese and his mother is Korean; at the time of his birth, the South Korean nationality law did not allow South Korean women who were married to foreigners to transmit their nationality to their children, so he only held Taiwanese nationality. His life in South Korea was a bit challenging as he did not qualify for a national identity card. He could not afford any health insurance and he had to pay higher tuition fees than his Korean peers.

Bii was always interested in music. He was the lead singer in his high school band. Later he went to Dongguan, China to find his father (where he worked) and to pursue a musical career. The name "Bii" stands for "Be I, I", indicating his dual personas.

Music career

Debut (2010)

On July 9, 2010, Bii released his first EP which was titled "Bii". This EP contained 4 songs, 1 in Korean and the remaining 3 in Mandarin.

Bismuth(III) iodide

Bismuth(III) iodide is the inorganic compound with the formula BiI₃. This gray-black solid is the product of the reaction of bismuth and iodine, which once was of interest in qualitative inorganic analysis.

Bismuth(III) iodide adopts a distinctive crystal structure, with iodide centres occupying a hexagonally closest-packed lattice, and bismuth centres occupying either none or two-thirds of the octahedral holes (alternating by layer), therefore it is said to occupy one third of the total octahedral holes.

Reactions

Since bismuth(III) iodide is insoluble in water, an aqueous solution can be tested for the presence of Bi³⁺ ions by adding a source of iodide such as potassium iodide. A black precipitate of bismuth(III) iodide indicates a positive test.

Bismuth(III) iodide forms iodobismuth(III) anions when heated with halide donors:
