The BFW M.22 was a twin-engined medium bomber designed by Willy Messerschmitt for the German Ministry of Transport. It was one of only two biplanes Messerschmitt designed, both unsuccessful.
During 1927, following the success of his M.18 airliner tried to gain funding from the Baverian government; because the latter were already subsiding BFW (Bayerische Flugzeug-Werke) they pressed for an arrangement whereby Willy Messerschmitt joined BFW on the understanding the company produced only his designs. During these negotiations, completed on 8 September 1927, the Ministry of Transport put pressure on Messerschmitt to produce military aircraft. This led to the only two biplanes Messerschmitt ever designed, the second of which was the BFW M.22 medium bomber, otherwise known as the Messerschmitt M 22.
It was a twin-engined biplane, with broad chord I-form interplane struts and ailerons on both wings. It had a conventional tail with an externally braced tailplane. The upper wing was raised above the fuselage by a long faired pylon, which separated the forward pilot's cockpit and the nose gunner's position from a dorsal gunner's position. The main undercarriage was a wide track split axle design, with the main wheels in spats; there was a tailskid.
Messerschmitt AG (German pronunciation: [ˈmɛsɐʃmɪt]) was a German aircraft manufacturing corporation (AG) named after its chief designer Willy Messerschmitt and known primarily for its World War II fighter aircraft, in particular the Bf 109 and Me 262. The company survived in the post-war era, undergoing a number of mergers and changing its name from Messerschmitt to Messerschmitt-Bölkow-Blohm before being bought by Deutsche Aerospace (DASA, now part of Airbus Group) in 1989.
In February 1916, the south German engineering company MAN AG and several banks purchased the unprofitable aircraft builder Otto-Flugzeugwerke, starting a new company, Bayerische Flugzeugwerke AG (abbreviated B.F.W.). The articles of association were drawn up on February 19 and 20, and completed on March 2, 1916. Details of the company were recorded in the Commercial Register with an equity capital of RM 1,000,000 on March 7, 1916. 36% of the capital was provided by the Bank für Handel und Industrie, Berlin, 30% by MAN AG and 34% by Hermann Bachstein, Berlin. The first Chairman of the Board of Management was Peter Eberwein, who had previously been employed at Albatros Flugzeugwerke.
Bleed from Within are a Scottish heavy metal band from Glasgow. The band formed in 2005 and currently consists of vocalist Scott Kennedy, drummer Ali Richardson, bassist Davie Provan and guitarists Craig Gowans and Martyn Evans. The band has released three studio albums; Humanity, Empire and Uprising. The most recent, Uprising was released on Century Media and reached number 13 on the UK Rock Chart.
The band formed in Glasgow where they initially met at a youth club where they would cover Lamb of God songs. The first tour that garnered them large scale exposure was in 2010 when they supported Sylosis and While She Sleeps on the Metal Hammer Razor Tour. Early in their career, Bleed from Within also toured with Soilwork, All that Remains, After the Burial, Suicide Silence, Caliban and Rise to Remain.
In August 2012, the band signed to Century Media Records. Their talks with the label started when they were approached after their performance at the 2011 Graspop festival in Belgium, where they were called up as a replacement. After its announcement Bleed From Within issued a very positive statement about their opportunity to join the label's roster: "Century Media have always been a powerhouse in bringing cutting edge new music to the world and we will endeavour to live up to the name." Between September and November 2012, the band supported While She Sleeps across the UK and co-headlined a tour around Europe with Bury Tomorrow. They supported Miss May I on their UK tour in November/December, before starting their studio sessions.
