Row (weight-lifting)

In strength training, rowing (or a row, usually preceded by a qualifying adjective — for instance a seated row) is an exercise where the purpose is to strengthen the muscles that draw the rower's arms toward the body (latissimus dorsi) as well as those that retract the scapulae (trapezius and rhomboids) and those that support the spine (erector spinae). When done on a rowing machine, rowing also exercises muscles that extend and support the legs (quadriceps and thigh muscles). In all cases, the abdominal and lower back muscles must be used in order to support the body and prevent back injury.

Many other weight-assisted gym exercises mimic the movement of rowing, such as the deadlift, high pull and the bent-over row. An effective off-season training programme combines both erg pieces and weight-assisted movements similar to rowing, with an emphasis on improving endurance under high tension rather than maximum strength.

Barley

Barley (Hordeum vulgare L.), a member of the grass family, is a major cereal grain grown in temperate climates globally. It was one of the first cultivated grains, particularly in Eurasia as early as 13,000 years ago. Barley has also been used as animal fodder, as a source of fermentable material for beer and certain distilled beverages, and as a component of various health foods. It is used in soups and stews, and in barley bread of various cultures. Barley grains are commonly made into malt in a traditional and ancient method of preparation.

In a 2007 ranking of cereal crops in the world, barley was fourth both in terms of quantity produced (136 million tons) and in area of cultivation (566,000 square kilometres or 219,000 square miles).

Etymology

The Old English word for 'barley' was bære, which traces back to Proto-Indo-European and is cognate to the Latin word farina "flour". The direct ancestor of modern English "barley" in Old English was the derived adjective bærlic, meaning "of barley". The first citation of the form bærlic in the Oxford English Dictionary dates to around 966 CE, in the compound word bærlic-croft. The underived word bære survives in the north of Scotland as bere, and refers to a specific strain of six-row barley grown there. The word barn, which originally meant "barley-house", is also rooted in these words.

Row 44 is a Westlake Village, California-based subsidiary of Global Eagle Entertainment providing in-flight broadband connectivity and wireless inflight entertainment for commercial aircraft around the world. As of October 2012, the company had seven airline customers—Southwest Airlines and Allegiant Air (North America), Norwegian Air Shuttle (Europe), Transaero and UTair Aviation (Russian Federation), Icelandair (Iceland), and Mango Airlines (Africa). Also as of October 2012, the company had deployed its broadband solution on more commercial planes than any other satellite-based connectivity provider.

Row 44’s products and services for airlines include Internet access, live television channels, video-on-demand, destination sales, games, e-commerce, and flight tracking. These are accessible via passengers’ Wi-Fi devices (smart phones, tablets, laptops, etc.) or through a connection to the airline’s existing seatback system. The system is also available as “Video-on-Demand” (VoD) only, without Row 44's satellite connectivity, enabling airlines to offer passengers an onboard selection of video content streamed directly to their WiFi devices. In October 2012, Allegiant Air selected Row 44's wireless Video-on-Demand (VoD) service for its fleet of Boeing 757s, which cover the airline's routes to Hawai'i.

In February 2012, the related company Uniregistrar Corporation became an ICANN-accredited registrar and launched under the licensed Uniregistry brand name in 2014.

History

Uniregistry Corporation was officially founded in 2012 by Frank Schilling, one of the largest private domain name portfolio owners in the world, and registered in the Cayman Islands. However, the domain Uniregistry.com was registered six years earlier and the company filed an intent to use the name in the Cayman Islands in 2010. Trademark applications for the "Uniregistry" mark and its stylized "U" logo were filed in 2012. That year, Schilling invested $60 million and applied for 54 new top-level domains. Uniregistrar Corporation became an ICANN-accredited registrar in February 2013. In January 2014, Uniregistry Inc. became a subsidiary in Newport Beach, California to house a West Coast service and support team. The registrar began operating under the licensed Uniregistry brand name in 2014. Uniregistry's registry infrastructure was designed by Internet Systems Consortium (ISC) and Uniregistry subsequently purchased its infrastructure in 2013.

Auto is a subgenre of dramatic literature. It was a one-act morality play, interlude or skit. They were first found in Spain, in the 15th century. In Portugal, in the 16th century, Gil Vicente was the main author of this type of dramatic genre. Luís de Camões and Dom Francisco Manuel de Mello also adopted this form of writing.
