Auschwitz concentration camp (German: Konzentrationslager Auschwitz, also KZ Auschwitz [kɔntsɛntʁaˈtsi̯oːnsˌlaːɡɐ ˈʔaʊʃvɪts]) was a network of German Nazi concentration camps and extermination camps built and operated by the Third Reich in Polish areas annexed by Nazi Germany during World War II. It consisted of Auschwitz I (the original camp), Auschwitz II–Birkenau (a combination concentration/extermination camp), Auschwitz III–Monowitz (a labor camp to staff an IG Farben factory), and 45 satellite camps.
Auschwitz I was first constructed to hold Polish political prisoners, who began to arrive in May 1940. The first extermination of prisoners took place in September 1941, and Auschwitz II–Birkenau went on to become a major site of the Nazi "Final Solution to the Jewish question". From early 1942 until late 1944, transport trains delivered Jews to the camp's gas chambers from all over German-occupied Europe, where they were killed with the pesticide Zyklon B. At least 1.1 million prisoners died at Auschwitz, around 90 percent of them Jewish; approximately 1 in 6 Jews killed in the Holocaust died at the camp. Others deported to Auschwitz included 150,000 Poles, 23,000 Romani and Sinti, 15,000 Soviet prisoners of war, 400 Jehovah's Witnesses, and tens of thousands of others of diverse nationalities, including an unknown number of homosexuals. Many of those not killed in the gas chambers died of starvation, forced labor, infectious diseases, individual executions, and medical experiments.
Auschwitz, in English, commonly refers to the Auschwitz concentration camp complex built by Nazi Germany during World War II.

Auschwitz is a 2011 German drama film directed by Uwe Boll.
The film attempts to depict the harsh reality of the process inside the Auschwitz concentration camp by using brutal imagery. Book-ended by documentary footage as well as interviews with German teenagers about what they know about the Holocaust, Boll's intention is to show viewers just how depraved and sadistic life in the camp was.
Boll shot the film in 2010 from February to March in Zagreb, Croatia.Auschwitz was filmed on the set of BloodRayne: The Third Reich.
The film premiered on 13 February 2011 in Berlin. A number of critics boycotted the release "for being 'too gruesome'".
Boll also filed a lawsuit against the Berlin International Film Festival (the Berlinale) in 2011 as he objected to paying the €125 entry fee, stating "I don't believe the Berlinale handles all films fairly. Kosslick has his deals with the major studios and invites his old pals from the Filmstiftung days. There isn't fair competition".
Cano or CANO may refer to:
Cano is a Basque surname, used since the 12th century.
A canoe is a lightweight narrow boat, typically pointed at both ends and open on top, propelled by one or more seated or kneeling paddlers facing the direction of travel using a single-bladed paddle. In some European countries, like the United Kingdom, the term canoe is often used for both canoes and kayaks, with canoes called Canadian canoes then. This is seen in the International Canoe Federation nomenclature.
Canoes are used for racing, whitewater canoeing, touring and camping, freestyle, and general recreation. The intended use of the canoe dictates its hull shape and length and construction material.
Historically, canoes were dugouts or made of bark on a wood frame, but construction materials evolved to canvas on a wood frame, then to aluminum. Most modern canoes are made of molded plastic or composites such as fiberglass. Until the mid-1800s the canoe was an important means of transport for exploration and trade, but then transitioned to recreational or sporting use. Canoeing has been part of the Olympics since 1936. In places where the canoe played a key role in history, such as the northern United States, Canada, and New Zealand, the canoe remains an important theme in popular culture.
CANO was a Canadian progressive rock band in the 1970s and 1980s. They were the most popular and internationally successful musical group in Franco-Ontarian history.
CANO evolved out of the Coopérative des artistes du Nouvel-Ontario (Artists' Cooperative of Northern Ontario), an artists' collective established in Sudbury, Ontario in 1970. The cooperative was responsible for developing many of the current cultural institutions of the city's Franco-Ontarian community — the Galerie du Nouvel-Ontario, the Théâtre du Nouvel-Ontario, La Nuit sur l'étang and the band CANO all evolved out of projects launched by artists associated with the cooperative.
While based primarily in Sudbury, the band also had collective ownership of a farm in Sturgeon Falls, where they did much of their recording.
The group consisted of singer/guitarists André Paiement and Rachel Paiement, violinist Wasyl Kohut, guitarists Marcel Aymar and David Burt, pianist Michel Kendel, bassist John Doerr and drummer Michel Dasti. The band was formed in the fall of 1975, and performed their first concert on December 1 at La Slague in Sudbury.
Waiting in the shadows; striking from behind
An evil genius orchestrates a plague against mankind
Rabid dogs surround him, so quick to emulate
The voice from hell which casts it's spell
And fans the flames of hate
Europe knelt before him, the Empire at his feet
The innocent were cruelly spent in orgies of deceit
Deeper now than ever, the depravity of men
So those who think those days are gone had better think again
While a blemished flock plans an easy escape
Tucked away safely in heaven
The world awaits her violent fate
Auschwitz '87
Unmindful of the millions who will die at his decree
A velvet-tongued destroyer will arise from troubled seas
His global plan is ready and waiting to begin
The western guard lies sleeping while a Trojan horse slips in
So we render unto Caesar 'till we're rendered penniless
Unmindful of the warnings, we increase our negligence
Sharper now than ever, the sword of Damocles
The noose grows ever tighter on a drugged democracy
While a blemished flock plans an easy escape...
Unmindful of the torment of butchered, unborn sons
Stabbing deep within the womb, the carnage has begun
The fuse burns ever shorter, through phony, worthless talks
Holocaust escaping from Pandora's lead-lined box
Saviour high in heaven, look down upon your bride
Tiny men, yet precious gems for whom you bled and died
Father high in heaven, we praise You through Your Son
Refine your people in the fire that surely has begun
While a blemished flock plans an easy escape
Tucked away safely in heaven
The world awaits her violent fate
