Akuma may refer to:
Akuma is a punk band from Quebec formed in 1998 from the ashes of Banlieue Rouge.
The original line-up comprised Safwan (guitar and vocals), Simon (bass and background vocals), Sylva (drums), and Mark (guitar, background vocals). It was this line-up which created the group's first album, 100 Démons, released March 2001 by Yakuza Productions.
For the second album, the line-up was changed: Yannick (guitar) and Martin (bass) joined Safwan and Sylva to replace Simon and Mark.
Besides its musical aspect, the band distinguishes itself through its opposition to neoliberalism, both through its lyrics and through its actions.
Thus, after their first album, 100 Démons, distributed through traditional means, the band decided to distribute their second album, Subversion (released 2004 by Pavillon Noir) directly to their fans through their Web site. At concerts, they claimed the idea was to avoid middlemen.
But like most punk groups, it is in the punk "scene" that Akuma delivers its message most effectively. To be heard, the group plays many different venues, from small establishments to large North American events like the Vans Warped Tour of 2001 or Quebec's summer festival.
Akuma (born in 1994, in Saltillo, Coahuila, Mexico) is the ring name of a Mexican luchador enmascarado, or masked professional wrestler currently working for the Mexican professional wrestling promotion Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL) portraying a rudo ("Bad guy") wrestling character. Akuma's real name is not a matter of public record, as is often the case with masked wrestlers in Mexico where their private lives are kept a secret from the wrestling fans. It has been revealed that he is the younger brother of CMLL wrestler Demus 3:16 and has been referred to as both Akuma 3:16 and Akuma 666.
The wrestler known as Akuma is the younger brother of Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL) wrestler Demus 3:16 who works in CMLL's Mini-Estrella division. He is the brother-in-law of retired professional wrestler Hiroka Yaginuma who is married to Demus 3:16. He is also the brother in law of wrestler Charlie Montana who is married to Akuma's sister.
Attentat or Atentat may refer to:
Attentat is a Belgian novel by Amélie Nothomb. It was first published in 1997.
Summary
In Attentat, the novelist creates two original characters for her readers. On the one hand, the grotesque yet enlightened Epiphane Otos is both refined and vulnerable. On the other hand Ethel, a smart young actress, is portrayed as incredibly beautiful. The story is about Epiphane's love for and devotion to Ethel. It is also a pretext for discourse on the idea of societal norms. Like in all books by Amélie Nothomb, literary and artistic references abound (for example Notre Dame de Paris). The use of little known vocabulary is equally an essential style trait of this novelist's work.
Comment
All the author's ideas support the debate she puts forward on normality. What is a norm? What is the role, involuntary or not, played by society in the elaboration of such standards? Amélie Nothomb skillfully demonstrates depictions of beauty and ugliness throughout the dialogue between Epiphane and Ethel: We are thrown by others views, shaped by them. On a wider scale, Amélie Nothomb invites us to question our philosophies and core beliefs, through the character of Epiphane Otos. Are one's views on a given topic, fact, or idea a result of personal reflection or the absorption of a societal concept which has not yet been refuted?

Original members also included Magnus "Paddan" Rydman, Martin "Grodan" Fabian and Dag Wetterholm. The band was known as The Frogs before being renamed Attentat. Later line-ups included Mats Jönsson on vocals, Magnus "Paddan/Remdo" Rydman on guitar, both from the original band as well as Cristian "Crippa" Odin on bass and Peter Björklund on drums. The compilation album Fy Fan! released in 2013 on the band's own Rykkman Records raised interest in the band's legacy and climbed the Swedish Albums Chart reaching number 20.
